North Glendale Family Update

October 3, 2021

Good morning!

This week we have our second PTO meeting of the year. We will meet in the library on Tuesday October 5 at 6:30. Childcare will be provided in the gym. There is a lot going on in October and November so come and get a preview of what's ahead! All are welcome!

Keep an eye on the PTO Weekly Wednesday Memo as well for ways you can engage with this dynamic group!

Please reach out if I can be of support,

Parent teacher conferences will be held the week of October 18 via Zoom.

If you drop off in the morning, PLEASE keep kids in the car until an adult is outside. We start unloading/supervision at 8:25. We have found a good handful of kids being dropped off early and they are without adult supervision. Thanks for your help.

An Update on Visitor Restrictions

As we communicated before the start of school, at the elementary level, visitors are permitted in the main office during school hours. This will continue to be the practice as we move forward into the second quarter of the semester.

We understand that many of our families are eager to engage more directly during the school day. As always, our goal is to ensure our school environment is as safe as possible for our students and staff. While the vaccine is widely available for many students on the secondary level, that is not yet the case for our students.

On a District level, KSD is monitoring the level of community transmission for St. Louis County as displayed in the CDC Data Tracker. The level of community transmission continues to be “high”. We will monitor local metrics as well as updated CDC guidance moving forward. Additionally, you can view the District’s COVID Dashboard with information specific to our Kirkwood Schools at

We are so lucky to have so many families that want to be engaged and involved in their students’ school. You are still an important part of our school community! You are welcome to become cleared as a volunteer to join us on field trips or get involved with our school PTO. Additionally, we will continue to look for opportunities to hold events outdoors to allow visitors to attend.

Halloween Parade

In trying to bring back some small slices of normal we will bring back or Halloween parade around the neighborhood of North Glendale! We will march at the end of the school day on 10/29 ~ I will confirm our time and route in the next update.

More details will be coming but for now as your Superstar contemplates their costume please adhere to our guidelines:

  • Costumes will be BROUGHT to school, not worn.
  • Kids must be able to put on their costume independently, over their street clothes.
  • No weapons, gory items, scary masks etc. A good rule of thumb ~ if you have to ask if it is too scary or gross for our school probably is.

Obviously with our continued safety precautions we will not have visitors in the building for any kind of celebration, but kids will receive a goody bag to go home from our fabulous PTO room parents.

Kids who would prefer an alternate activity will have an opportunity for an alternative celebration during the parade.

The GLORY RUN is Back!

Please join friends and community members by participating in the 2nd Annual Glory Run/Walk Virtual Marathon. The Glory Run takes place throughout the month of October. Participants register online, track their miles, and share their experiences and photos to raise funds for a scholarship for a Kirkwood BIPOC (Black, Indigenous People of Color) student as part of KSDF's Named Award Scholarship program.
