Labor Day
On Monday, 9/5, we will observe Labor Day. There is no school. Enjoy your long weekend!
Friday Flag
Friday Flag is back! Parents/Families, we invite you to join us for Friday Flag each Friday morning at 8:30 AM, starting on Friday, September 9th. As a school we sing the school song, recite the Pledge of Allegience, practice our PAWS Pledge and hand out various awards. Students will be sitting in their classroom lines and families are invited to sit at the lunch tables. We hope you can join us for this weekly event!
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club begins again this week on Wednesday, September 7th from 8:45-10:45 AM. This is one of our first on-campus volunteer opportunities. Teachers submit work/projects that need to be completed for the classroom. Parents come in and work in our new LRC Building (Learning Resource Center) for a couple hours to complete those projects.
If you are interested, please complete the volunteer packet prior to arriving on campus. You will also need to bring your Driver's License to scan into our computer visitor system. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Jenn in the front office.
Volunteer Packets
Are you interested in volunteering on campus this year? Below you will find the link to the volunteer application. Each adult that wishes to work in Breakfast Club, as a Room Parent, attend Field Trips, become a Garden Volunteer or just work on campus, you must fill out a new application each year. This is the first year that the entire process is electronic, please click on the link for more information. Thank you!
School Site Council
Are you interested in serving on a school committee? We are looking for two parents/community members who would like to serve on the School Site Council Committee. If you are interested, please complete the attached flyer and return it to the school. Thank you!
Peachjar
Are you wondering about district sponsored/approved clubs? Wondering what youth sports programs are available? The Santee School District uploads all flyers to the Peachjar link on the bottom right side of the Sycamore Canyon School Website. Follow this link or click on the link on the website:
https://app.peachjar.com/flyers/all/schools/55298 Running on the Grass
In an effort to keep everyone safe, we are asking all the students to refrain from running on the grass in front of the school at dismissal time. Thank you in advance for your help, we really appreciate it!
iPads
The iPads were distributed to students on Monday, August 29th, however they may not be coming home immediately. Classes will need to complete our lessons on Digital Citizenship prior to them coming home. Each student will receive an iPad, charging block, and cable that will need to be returned at the end of the year.
We understand that during the A.I.R. Process and new enrollment, parents were given the choice to bring devices home or leave them at school. We are encouraging all families to still bring them home this year, given that there is still the possibility of being absent for multiple days and the iPad is a direct link to the student's homework and textbooks. If you have any questions about this, please contact Mrs. Hicks.
Optional iPad Insurance is available again this year. If you are interested in purchasing the insurance, the link is provided below:
