Interim Superintendent's Update
School Leaders of the Diocese of Cleveland,
Also, last week we included a blurb on the availability of CEET grant funding to support those seeking credentials to be future Catholic school leaders and administrators. Read on below for opportunities from our area Catholic colleges and universities, including discounts offered, for such leadership programs.
Finally, this is a reminder that you are all invited to attend the February 12, 2019 Ensuring Human Dignity Conference. Please take a moment to register here. Recall that we would like representation from all of our schools: principals and, where applicable, presidents, and leaders of counseling, campus ministry, theology or other relevant areas of school leadership. See the flyer and site for more information, and please be sure to register. Though not completely unrelated, this is an entirely different program than this year’s all-elementary PD on March 8, one that is targeted toward us as leaders and from which we will draw upon as we unpack challenges specific to our ministry in our future meetings together.
May we in this season of Advent prepare our hearts and our communities for Christmas by drawing closer in care and love.
Sincerely,
Frank

Preparing for Christmas
The Contardi Childhood Center at St. Rocco School opened its doors to preschool through 1st grade students in 2008. Though very involved with 'the big kids in the main school, this center offers "the little kids" their own special world of activity. The kindergarteners shown here are getting ready for Christmas with "mistletoes" art while Rocco, the Elf on the Shelf, sat close by studiously reading a book in the library.

Jon Peterson Special Needs & Autism Scholarship Applications
Dear Principals,
Many of you are currently in the process of completing the Jon Peterson Special Needs and/or Autism Scholarship application through the Ohio Department of Education. These scholarships are very helpful to families who want their child to receive an excellent Catholic education while also allowing for the support of special education services that some schools are able to offer.
Two individual work sessions are being offered to assist schools that are completing scholarship applications: Monday, Dec. 17, from 9:30-11:30 and Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 12:30-2:30, both taking place at Cleveland Central Catholic in the library. Members of the Better Together Committee and OCFE staff will be on hand to give help to and answer questions for principals as they complete the application. Computer access will be provided and all documents that need to be uploaded for the applications should be brought individually on a flash drive.
Principals who wish to attend a session need to register through the professional development tab on Digital Academy by this Friday morning, Dec. 14, no later than 10 am. Up to 16 participants are able to attend per session and room remains for several more to join.
Please download the packet below which contains a checklist and sample documents for the scholarship provider application(s). Be sure to carefully read through it prior to attending a session to make sure that you have all the necessary information and have made decisions about the various entries on the application. For further information on the application process, please refer to the Provider Registration User Manual which is also provided for download below.

Ursuline College
Ursuline graduates are principals in more than 50% of the elementary schools in our diocese, and Ursuline grads have a presence in a majority of the Catholic high schools in our diocese. We want to continue that level of service. Ursuline’s Master's in Educational Administration program utilizes a mixture of online and in-person courses to deliver foundations in content as well as leadership skills. In addition to the discount for educators taken off of traditional credit hour costs, Ursuline is offering an additional unpublished discount for our Catholic school employees bringing the cost per credit hour to a fraction of the published rate.
Ursuline also offers a track for aspiring system level leaders, the Superintendent Licensure Program, for which the same discount applies.
