1. Carnival Update

We have ordered the hot weather for Friday 16th July and are all very excited about our Carnival day. In response to parental queries, we would like the children to create their costumes at home and be able to show these off during our parade. Although we began our term looking at African carnivals we have also begun to draw inspiration from carnivals in Brazil and America. Please create costumes as brightly and individually as you and your children would like. Our aim is to end the school year with as much colour as possible.

There is a lot of excitement about Carnival costumes in Rowan Class this week and it’s great to hear the children’s flamboyant ideas. I’ve got a feeling Amazon might be getting rush orders on feathers and glue! RE this week was all about what makes our world so wonderful. Rowan Class was bursting with ideas to share and have a sense of real appreciation for their surroundings, families, and friends.

Hazel Class has started a new narrative this term, linked to our carnival theme, titled ‘Charlie’s Magical Carnival’. We have had a great time learning about carnival costumes, music, and traditions. In DT we have now finalised our carnival mask designs and will begin making these next week!

2. Monday Mile

All that practice for Sports Day really paid off. A total of 41 miles was run or walked with a record 23 pupils completing the full mile.

5. Bardwell School in the news

We’ve had a press photographer and journalist with us this week; there should be a story about our Primary Science Quality Mark achievement in Friday’s Bury Free Press. Please look out for it and, if you have a copy of the paper, please bring it into the office.

6. Summer Tennis - Walsham

Please see the flyer for summer holiday tennis camps which will be running at Walsham Sports Club. Contact details for the tennis coach are included on the flyer if families have any queries.

Thanking you on behalf of the Walsham sports club in anticipation of your support for this community event.

7. Summer Gymnastics - Bury St Edmunds

This past year has made all of us realise just how important keeping active really is. Our community-led non-for-profit club puts the children’s health, happiness, and wellbeing at the heart of everything we deliver.

These sessions will not only be fun-filled; they will also help play a big part in keeping children fit and active throughout the summer holidays.
