PERSHING SPIRIT WEEK!
Principal's Message
Dear Pershing Families,
A huge shoutout to our ASB advisor Ms. Stacy Robe and to all the ASB students for the tremendous effort they have put in over the past two weeks. They did a great job last week supporting Red Ribbon Week and this week's Spirit Week and Lunch Time Activities have been a highlight of this school year!
We want to remind families that students should not be dropped off at the campus before 7:40 AM due to a lack of supervision. If you need to drop your child off before 7:40 AM they need to be enrolled in our PrimeTime Before & After School Child Care Program. We have seen a significant uptick in the number of students being dropped off before 7:30 AM and we want to make sure families are aware that the supervision window does not begin until 7:40 AM.
And finally, congratulations to our FTC robotics mentors who helped our students competing in their first FLL Robotics competition. We want to build a robust robotics program at Pershing and we are so fortuate to have parent volunteers and student mentors supporting this effort!
Sincerely,
Melanie Kray

Important Announcements for the Week of November 6
RUBY BRIDGES WALK TO SCHOOL EVENT ON TUESDAY, NOV 14TH
Our students, staff, and families have been invited to join with students at Gage Elementary School in the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day event on Monday, November 14th. Students participating in the walk to school event will meet at 7:00AM behind the Albertsons by Bisby Lake Rd. At 7:30 AM they will begin their walk to school (see flyer below for additional details). The event honors Ruby Bridges the first black student to de-segregate her elementary school in New Orleans in the 1960 and meant to support ending racism and all forms of bullying. We are expecting a large turnout and would like students to register for the event. CLICK HERE to register - the first 100 students who register get swag bags. Even if students cannot walk in the event that morning we are encouraging all students to wear purple that day.
BABY PHOTOS OF 8TH GRADERS FOR THE YEARBOOK
Yearbook is now collecting 8th grade baby pictures. The first 100 photos that are submitted will be guaranteed to be in the yearbook this year. Unlike in past years, we will only be accepting digital photos. Please email your child’s photo to sruckle@sandi.net by December 15th. Be sure to include your students name (first and last) in the subject line so we can accurately identify the students. Any photos that we receive above the limit and/or after the deadline may not appear in the yearbook. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ms. Ruckle.
MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS BASKETBALL AND TRACK & FIELD PHOTOS
Yearbook needs your help. We want to include the Pershing sports teams in the yearbook but we need pictures. If you happen to have any pictures that we can use, please sent them our way. You can email your photos to sruckle@sandi.net. Any photos you have will be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help and support.

8TH GRADER ARTICULATION CARDS

Our counseling team will be meeting with all 8th grade students to review the course offerings at PHHS.
SAVE THE DATE: TUESDAY, NOV 14 PHHS MEETING FOR 8TH GRADE FAMILIES

6TH GRADE CAMP INFORMATION NIGHT ON TUESDSDAY, NOV 14
On Tuesday, Nov 14 @6:00 PM in the auditorium, a representative from Camp Cuyamaca will be on campus to provide information about what the sixth grade camp experience is like. It is intended for families who have never sent a child to camp before. The representative will also be visiting sixth grade classes in December to provide additional information to our students about the camp experience. We understand that this information night is happening the same night as PHHS's articulation for 8th graders. We encourage families with both an 8th grader and a 6th grader to prioritize the PHHS event because they already know what to expect from camp since their 8th grader has already gone through the camp experience. The information night is intended to provide basic information about the camp experience for families who have never sent a child to camp before.

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KRAY SENT TO FAMILIES ON 11/3
If you haven't done so already, please let us know your preferred date for camp by filling out this quick form: Date Availability/Preference date survey
As we shared previously, the large increase in our overall sixth grade enrollment means that we have had to add a second week (June 3-7) to our original week (April 8-12) so that all sixth grade students will have an opportunity to go to camp. Please let us know your preferred week as soon as possible and a big thank you to the families that have already completed the survey. Our April week is approaching capacity and we will likely run out of capacity and only be able to offer one of the two weeks at some point so please let us know your preference so the Foundation can do it's best to accommodate your preference. Families that are able to send their child to camp the Week of June 3-7 will have the opportunity to select one friend who is also going to camp that week as a bunkmate until we hit our reservation limit. This bunkmate selection option is not guaranteed for students going the Week of April 8-12. Families not sending their child to sixth grade camp DO NOT need to complete the preference date survey.
