Normandy High School’s Lone Golfer Paving the Way for Women, Minorities in Sport
Normandy High School’s Anandra Chaney is the first to admit she doesn’t fit the mold when it comes to the game of golf. But she won’t let that stop her from succeeding in the sport that started out as something to do during the pandemic.
“When I play golf, I don’t want people to just see me as a golf player. I want people to see me as a student, as a girl, as an African American. I don’t just play golf. There are things I want to get to outside of golf, through golf.”
Welcome NSC's New Bi-Lingual Family Support Coordinator
Welcome Lourdes Mills, NSC’s new Bi-Lingual Family Support Coordinator! Mills will provide direct and indirect services to English Language Learners (ELL), and facilitate communication among school, home, and community providers. It’s a role she’s passionate about and is ready to help families prosper in Normandy.

NHS Student Council Recognizes ‘Village’ at First Community Unification Dinner
The Normandy High School Student Council recently hosted the It Takes a Village Awards and 24:1 Unification Dinner to honor members of the Normandy Schools Collaborative community who have gone above and beyond for students. The district also introduced its new Circle of Life Restorative Initiative and Mentorship Program in partnership with the North County Police Cooperative and 24:1 Clergy Coalition.
Duane Foster, Normandy High School dean of students and long-time fine arts instructor, worked with student council members on this new initiative.
“Our students have a lot to say about what happens in our community and some really great ideas as to how to make it better,” he said. “And one of the ways is to get our community more involved with what’s going on in our district.”
