IMPORTANAT California School Parent Survey for Lin Howe
California School Parent Survey (CSPS)
Survey Link: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/u2ne
Parent involvement is a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) State priority. This short survey provides a means to confidentially obtain:
- parent perceptions about the school's learning environment;
- school climate;
- student supports; and
- parent outreach and involvement efforts (e.g., how welcoming, communicative).
It also provides data on the scope and nature of parent involvement at the school (relationships, activities) and in the child's education in general.
CSPS identifies which needs and concerns of parents schools should address in promoting greater involvement. Asking parents to provide their perceptions of the school is an empowering parent-involvement activity.
The questions are aligned with the California School Staff Survey and the California Healthy Kids Survey (5TH Graders participate in the Healthy Kids Survey at the Elementary Level) so information obtained across these three stakeholder groups can be compared. The survey is available both online and in a printed booklet, with the printed version translated into multiple languages.

CULVER CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT HEAD LICE
Your child may have been exposed to Head Lice, a communicable disease. We recommend daily examination of your child and family for symptoms. Please review the following information and contact your school nurse if you suspect that your child may have lice. SYMPTOMS: Itchy head.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR:
● A louse crawling on the scalp (an adult louse is about the size of a sesame seed), frequently at the nape of the neck and behind the ears.
● You may not find any live lice, but instead you may find their eggs (nits) attached to the hair within ¼” from the scalp. Eggs are small, shaped like a tear-drop, white in color and are not easily removed.
WHAT TO DO:
● Notify the school nurse and the front office immediately, since lice are contagious.
● If you find lice or nits, you can buy an over-the-counter treatment at any local drug store.
● Some shampoo treatments do kill live lice but not the eggs; other products will kill both. Please remove all live lice and nits (eggs) before your child returns to school. Use a metal nit comb available at most drugstores. Or you may choose to cut the hair in a “buzz” cut to remove the eggs. You may also consider seeking the help of professional lice/nit removers (see school nurse for more information), but this can be costly.
● After treatment, continue to comb out the child’s hair daily for two weeks to make sure all nits are removed.
● All clothing, hair accessories, towels, bedding, and backpacks must be washed in hot, soapy water and dried in a hot dryer for 20 minutes. Anything that cannot be washed (stuffed animals, hats, etc.) must be sealed in a plastic bag for 14 days. Mattresses, carpets, furniture, and car seats must be vacuumed.
● After treating your child’s hair, bring your child to the school of ice upon returning to school. His/her hair must be checked and he/she must be cleared of live lice in order to be readmitted to class.
HOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF LICE:
● Avoid head to head contact.
● Avoid sharing hair items at school and home, for example combs, hats, hair clips or hair ties.
● Have your child hang his/her coat on an individual hook at school or put it in their backpack instead of throwing it on top of other jackets.
● To prevent lice from spreading to other family members: regularly clean things that your child’s head directly touches, like the telephone, head phones, furniture, and pillows. Wash bed linens daily and vacuum frequently (including the furniture, carpets and car). Sterilize all the combs/brushes in boiling water or soak in rubbing alcohol for twenty minutes. Avoid head to head contact. Wear long hair in a bun (not ponytail). Continue to check the hair daily until no eggs are found for three days. Notify other family members and friends that they may have been exposed. If your child spends time with a parent in another home, notify them and have them perform the same procedures.
● Comb out and examine your child’s hair and scalp once a week for early detection of lice.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
● Lice cannot fly, hop or jump.
● Anyone can get lice. It has nothing to do with age, gender, ethnicity or cleanliness.
● Lice are not transferred to humans from pets or other animals.
● Lice cannot live for more than 24 hours away from the scalp, but the eggs can survive for 14 days.
