Snack during our final weeks...

If you would like your child to have a morning snack each day, please send an individual snack for your student, if possible. As we near the end of the school year, we don't want to be left with large boxes of class snack items.

Centers

This week we continue to work with bossy "r" words, as well as word families. At writing center, students will be making a School Memories book. Next week we will be having some creative and fun centers to end the year.

Pictures from this school year...

Field day was awesome and I took a lot of pictures of the fun. I'm creating an album on Shutterfly of pics from the various field trips and parties throughout the year. I will send out an invitation to that album when it is ready. You will be able to view the pictures and also order prints or other items through the Shutterfly site if you wish.

June 13-17 is Spirit Week

  • Monday: Beach Day (sandals, shorts, sundresses, towels, & sunglasses) Don't forget to bring your gym shoes!
  • Tuesday: School Color Day - wear black, orange, or white
  • Wednesday: Pajama Day
  • Thursday: Fancy Day! Get dressed up.
  • Friday: Bryant Spirit Wear

Writer's Workshop

This week we will share our How To and All About books with another first grade class. During our remaining weeks we will work on poetry.

Ms. Elster Hosting Workshop

Join Bryant/Pattengill school social worker, Ms. Elster, for a workshop on how to encourage good behavior, control obnoxious behavior and strengthen your relationship with your child. The workshop will be held at Pattengill Elementary on Tuesdays May 31st and June 7th from 4:15-5:45pm. Questions? Contact Ms. Elster- elster@aaps.k12.mi.us

Math Update

We have been reviewing and extending learning about 2D and 3D shapes and fractional parts. We will spend our last few weeks adding and subtracting larger numbers and working at math centers.

Start planning for Summer Learning

Your first graders have accomplished so much this year! Avoid summer learning loss by planning for your child to read daily, write frequently, and set aside a few days each week for summer work. Look for a summer work packet and for math journals to come home next week. Unfinished "Math Boxes" pages in the journals are great for practice and review. Ann Arbor District Library has a summer reading game that your student can play online http://play.aadl.org/ or on paper. Bryant Library is also offering summer check out.
