Sound Engineering Technician

Basic skills
Computer skills are necessary because you will need to use computer programs to edit sound
Manual dexterity is important because a major part of the job is to setup equipment and adjust dials and knobs
Problem solving skills are necessary when equipment is not functioning well.
Activities done on the job
Operate machines and equipment to record, mix music, voices, or sound effects in radio, TV shows, and Movies
Working conditions
They work indoors in radio, television, movie, recording studios, offices and school buildings.
Physical demads
Work hours and travel
Mostly work 40 hours per week.
Generally work a set schedule, work overtime and under pressure to reach deadlines.
Can work weekends or nights, when working for stations that broadcast programs live.
Education
Sound engineering technicians, need a post-secondary non-degree award or certificate
