Principal Notes
My first week was amazing to include Hispanic Heritage Parent Evening, PLC planning meetings, guided reading PD, and data meetings.
I am excited to be part of such an engaging and connected staff at Glen B Couch Elementary School. I am looking forward to working with each and every one of you and know we will have a successful 2018-2019 school year.
You may contact me anytime at 214-403-2920.
Thank You,
Armenia
Friendly Reminders :)
2) RtI conversations and plans need to be completed by Friday!
3) Fall Festival is FRIDAY! If possible, we still need baked goods and candy donations! Looking forward to seeing everyone pitching in for a fun evening!
4) Fall conferences should be happening. They are due by NOVEMBER 2 and you are required to have a conference with every parent. Sign in sheets need to be turned in to Lauren.
Recycling and Green Team!
Every classroom should have a recycling bin in their classroom. This bin should ONLY hold paper and paper products. No food or liquid can be placed in the bin as it will ruin the entire lot to be recycled. Please make sure you are having those conversations with your class and START RECYCLING!
New Progress Notice/Report Card Procedure
Teachers are now required to come view their progress notices/ report cards and verify they are correct.
Below is my time line on when they are processed and printed. I will print them right away on Tuesday morning. They will be separated by grade level and then by teacher. You will need to review your grades and sign off on the cover sheet. If they are correct, you may leave the cover sheet and take your class set. IF there are any errors, you will need to email Mrs. Jeffries to start the correction process and leave everything in the folder. This will ensure that we are sending home accurate information to the parents.

Red Ribbon Week- Oct 22-26
Drills, Drills and More Drills
We will be doing a lockdown drill on the 23rd (Tuesday) and a fire drill on October 25th (Thursday). Both will happen at 10 a.m. I appreciate your cooperation with getting these completed!
FOR FIRE DRILLS: As you are exiting the building, please make sure you walking at the front of your lines and holding the door for your students to exit. The student at the front of the line should know exactly where to walk. Teachers should lead and hold open the doors for their classes to exit until the next teacher takes the door, etc. When students are left to hold the door, they get caught behind and without their class. This can cause issues.
Circle Forward at Couch Elementary 2018-2019
Couch Team,
The Circle process of communication helps participants reconnect with joyous appreciation of themselves and others. To better facilitate the Circle process, please remember to go to the link below and do the trainings. Please continue to implement Circle Time in your classrooms. Copies of the next four units will be placed in your boxes for you to add to your binder. As per administration, every lesson plan should include your Circle Time activity. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Ms. Castro
GT hours
Please remember to complete your GT hours for this year. New teachers must attend 30 hours and complete the form attached by end of school year. ALL teachers are responsible for 6 update hours per year. Martha Castro sent an emaiI with the fall course information sent by GT Dept. The spring schedule has not been created. We will be receiving that later this semester. Please let Ms. Castro or Lauren know if you have any questions.
