SEL DAY ON FRIDAY, MARCH 10

At Richland, students have the opportunity during Caring School Community time to build their Social-Emotional Learning daily. On Friday, March 10, 2023 schools around the world will be celebrating SEL day. It’s a day when students, educators, and families can show their support for social-emotional learning in school. Throughout the week to show our support, Richland will have daily announcements and activities to support the social-emotional learning of our students.

This is also a chance for you to celebrate the work your child is doing to build important life skills like learning the 7 Habits, handling big feelings, being kind to others, and solving problems. We also want to thank you for supporting your child's social-emotional development and we appreciate all you're doing for them!

WEDNESDAY IS WORLD MATH DAY!

  • March 8th is World Math Day. Richland is learning more about this world event in hopes that we can participate. On 8 March 2023, millions of students across the globe will come together for World Math Day – the world’s largest online mathematics competition. Look for more information to come shortly from your child’s classroom teacher.

TUESDAY: Have you ever heard a story about a famous mathematician? What did you learn about that person?

WEDNESDAY: What is one goal you have for math? How will you reach that goal?

THURSDAY: How do you feel after you solve a challenging math problem?

FRIDAY: SEL Day! What do you tell yourself to persevere through a challenge in math?

MUSIC UPDATE

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN MUSIC CLASS WITH MRS WEINLEIN

As we conclude learning about the instrument families in Grades 3-5, students are completing posters about the family they learned about. Look for these to be posted on Seesaw in their music class journal!

Kindergarten: We will begin learning about Camille Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals. Students will learn about the themes of the animals using different elements of the music such as tempo, timbre, dynamics, pitch, and expression.

First Grade: We will begin learning about Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Students will learn to recognize the themes of the characters using the different timbres of the instruments used for each theme.

Second Grade: We are preparing for our upcoming Second Grade Concert for all students on March 23rd! Please mark the date on your calendars if you have not already done so!

4TH AND 5TH GRADE CHORUS

Our chorus has started back up with new songs for our concert on May 24, 2023. 4th Grade will continue to rehearse on Day 2 at 11:45 while 5th Grade will continue to rehearse on Day 3 at 12:15. This is such a perfect opportunity for any singers to join our chorus! Please reach out to Mrs. Weinlein if interested in joining our Richland Chorus!
