Principal's Message
It was wonderful to see so many parents attend their child's Parent Teacher Conference. Communication between parents and teachers is the key factor in the success of your child.
As a part of our Character program, we are promoting and talking to the students about responsibility. This includes consistent attendance and arriving to school on time! Many children are being dropped off after 8:20 a.m. Responsibility starts at an early age. Working together to encourage the importance of good attendance and being on time for school is a critical life skill.

End of Day Pick Up Changes
- If you would like to change how your student is going home, please send a note, email the teacher , or call the office as early as possible. Please avoid leaving a message regarding your child's dismissal change. To ensure getting the message to your child, please speak directly to one of the secretaries. We try to notify all classrooms of changes by 2:30 p.m.
- If you would like to add or delete a person who can pick up your child, please send the request in writing via a note or email to the office. We are not allowed to make changes over the phone. You are also able to make those additions or deletions on your parent portal.
- Please keep us up-to-date with a current email, phone number, emergency contacts, and address. You can make changes through the parent portal or by sending a note or email to the office. You can email Mrs. Patty at patriciaforce@wsdr4.org or Mrs. Kim at kimberlyreese@wsdr4.org with changes.

MUSIC NEWS
The Midwest Kodály Music Educators of America (MKMEA) is one of four divisions of the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE). The Kodály philosophy is an approach to music education developed in Hungary during the twentieth century by Zoltán Kodály and his associates which focuses on music literacy and making music of high quality using the folk music of the child's culture. MKMEA consists of 17 local chapters in 13 states throughout the Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
In conjunction with the regional conference, teachers in MKMEA may elect 2-3 of their music students to perform in the honor choir. Bridget Rose and Taylor Strode, 5th graders at Peine Ridge Elementary, were selected by their teacher, Vicki Strode, to participate in the honor choir. The concert was held at First Baptist Church in Wichita, KS on Oct. 24th.
One of the musical selections performed was a Native American piece, Lakota Wiyanki arranged by Judith Herrington and Gail Woodside. Choir conductor, Nina Kindt, arranged for Mark Brown, a Lakota tribe spiritual leader, to perform with the singers. This was especially exciting for the singers to be able to experience and learn more about the music of the Lakota culture.

Box Tops and Campbell's Soup Labels
Thanks to all who send in labels and for helping to prepare the labels for shipment. The money received from the labels has been used on library activities, book purchases, counselor activities with kids in need, and small equipment. We typically average a little over a $1,000 a year, but would like to hit $2,000 this year. Please help us by saving your labels and dropping them off in the large Campbell Soup bin in the front of the school.
Thank you so much for your support!
