Learning Letter

for Classified Employees

February 2019

"The Expert in anything was once a Beginner", - Helen Hayes

Hello and Happy February! My name is Tania Rowe and I am the "Beginner" Professional Learning Coordinator. I started this position in mid January, and it has been a whirlwind of activity ever since. It is my goal and desire to help others help themselves by providing accessible workplace training, professional growth and personal development courses and tools.

Since February 1st and Pro Grow Day, I have been working on Mentor applications and selection, placing new hires with existing Mentors, adding coursework through the Classified Learning Cooperative both for SAI implementation and other course offerings, and working with the Professional Learning Advisory Board to select additional Board members.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I look forward to discovering additional opportunities to facilitate training and provide resources to all of our classified employees.

Feel free to email me with any questions, requests or suggestions.

Learning together,

Tania Rowe

Professional Growth Day - February 1, 2019

February 1st was our first Professional Growth Day for the 2019 calendar year. There are so many amazing and wonderful people who helped launch this day successfully. I would like to personally thank a variety of staff members at the following sites and departments: Special Education, Twin Peaks Center, Del Norte High, Midland Elementary, Creekside Elementary, District Office personnel, PSEA staff members, our phenomenal presenters and our amazing attendees. We successfully offered 35 classes, received insights regarding Inclusion from keynote speaker, Jennifer Sommerness, welcomed our newly contracted Noon Duty Assistants and provided free CPR/AED and First Aid to our first 85 registrants. Pictures of the day at Twin Peaks Center can be found a little further down in this newsletter. Big thank yous and much gratitude to all who participated in making this day a success!
