Photos of CC Sheridan online!

Friends, here is a link to view all the photos we've taken in our community to date! I will try to update the link soon so that others may upload photos as well. Enjoy! http://1drv.ms/1Ir239Q.

Join us for an Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Discovery Concert on Wednesday, February 17!

We have a great opportunity for our families to attend a student symphony concert on Wednesday, February 17 at 11:30 AM. This is a family-friendly opportunity for everyone to learn how to attend a live orchestra performance and dovetails perfectly with our study of great composers in the spring semester. Spouses, grandparents, and siblings of CC students are all welcome to attend with us. I will collect payment during lunch on January 12, however in the mean time, please RSVP online before then to let me know how many adults ($7) and children ($6) will be coming with you! Here is the link for details and to RSVP: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0949a8a82ca75-indianapolis.

2016-2017 Academic Year Planning Underway--Registration for CC Sheridan Opens January 1!

We hope that you plan to be with Classical Conversations of Sheridan in 2016-2017! We have had a lovely first semester together, and I’m praying that we have the opportunity to continue to strengthen our fellowship together next year. Current families will have priority in registering for our community through the end of February. Registration forms will be available online and at CC Sheridan when we return from our break. We will open registration to other families on March 1!

Classical Conversations of Sheridan Open Houses in 2016

We are entering outreach season for Classical Conversations! Why outreach? Because we believe that the classical method of education, our model of equipping parents to homeschool their students with joy, rigor and fellowship, and our mission of “knowing God and making Him known” could be a blessing to many more students and families in central Indiana! Many people I meet have not homeschooled before, and, if they have, they’ve not educated their students classically, and so they need to see what theory looks like in practice. Our community will open its doors to visitors on the following dates:

  • January 26, 2016: CC Sheridan Open House
  • February 16, 2016: CC Sheridan Open House
  • March 15, 2016: CC Sheridan Open House
  • April 5, 2016: CC Sheridan Open House

Thank you for welcoming our guests, sharing your experiences with them, and perhaps inviting them to sit with you and your children during our lunch hour.

Help us bring Classical Conversations to others through Information Meetings!

As our region’s Support Representative, my goal is to continue to serve CC Sheridan and CC Kokomo as well as to help develop CC communities in Noblesville and Carmel this year, as God wills! One of our most effective ways of connecting with families is holding an Information Meeting to introduce the method, model, and mission of Classical Conversations. I’ll be conducting a brief Information Meeting training session from 4:00-5:00 PM in the Challenge I Room on January 12, our first day back after the break. Would you prayerfully consider helping connect other families to Classical Conversations by offering an Information Meeting in your home town next year? Information Meetings currently scheduled include the following:

(Marie) Wednesday, January 13, 10 AM – noon @ Sheridan Library

(Marie) Monday, January 18, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM @ Carmel Library

(Tess) Thursday, January 21, 7-9 PM @ Zionsville Library

(Marie) Thursday, Jan. 21, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM @ Noblesville Library

(Heather) Friday, January 22, 4:30-6:30 @ Westfield Library

(Marie) Wednesday, February 10, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM @ Carmel Library

(Marie) Thursday, February 11, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM @ Westfield Library

(Tess) Saturday, February 20, 4-6 PM @ Lebanon Library

I will forward a flyer with the dates and times of these meetings so that you may share directly with those you know who may be interested and take the printed flyers to the places you visit—Starbucks, your gym, public library, church bulletin board, mom’s groups, etc. Thank you for your help in connecting others with this opportunity!

Stanford 10 Testing to be offered at Classical Conversations of Sheridan on May 10, 11, and 12

Save the dates! Classical Conversations of Sheridan will offer Stanford 10 Testing on May 10, 11, and 12 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 9:00 AM – noon each day. While testing is completely optional, we look forward to this opportunity to give students practice taking standardized testing as well as to prepare them for future tests such as the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. We need one person to proctor the test. Requirements include having a Bachelor’s Degree, being willing to do a 2-hour online training course, and soliciting volunteers among our parents to help as readers of the oral portion of the test. Please let me know ASAP if you would be willing to help in this way!

Housekeeping Items

  • Facility fee of $60 per family due January 12 payable to Marie C. Hendrickson (unless you were an early bird and paid this with your tuition!). This covers our General Liability Insurance Policy as well as rent to Christ Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
  • Inclement Weather Policy: We do not want to cancel our classes if at all possible, however we desire for our families to be safe and off the roads if driving conditions are hazardous. In case of inclement weather, please check text/email by 7:30 AM for a determination of whether we will meet on the community day in question. We use the Sheridan Public Schools as our guide—if they are closed, we likely will postpone meeting and add that day to the end of the spring semester. Please ensure that the director of your child’s program has your preferred method of contact for matters requiring timely communication.

  • Childcare Needs: We are in need of help in the afternoon in the toddler and infant nursery. This is a paid position. Please contact Heather Sample if you are able to help in this capacity!
