A Message from the Principal
We had a great first week of school! It was so great seeing all of our students and staff back on campus. Safety is our highest priority at Red Rock Elementary School. Please review the following to ensure that our parent pick up and drop off continues to run smoothly and safely for everyone.
When picking up and dropping off your child, please pull all the way forward to the large yellow cone in the parent loop. Students will walk to and from your car along the sidewalk. When coming through the parent loop, please do not exit your vehicle. If this is not possible, please park in the parking lot and come through the crosswalk to pick up your child. All parents and students muse use the crosswalk. Students will only be allowed to enter your vehicle on the passenger side for safety reasons. Additionally, please remember that the back parking lot is a bus loading zone only. There is no parking in the back parking lot to pick up your students at the end of the school day.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe.
We hope you have a great week!
Ms. LeFager
Open House
We have spread our Open House nights across three days, giving families a better opportunity to visit each of their children's classrooms. Open House is a time for families to learn more about their child's teacher, the curriculum, and the day-to-day procedures in the classroom. We would love for you to join us!

Standards-Based Grading (SBG)
This year, all grades at Red Rock Elementary will be utilizing Standards-Based Grading (SBG) to assess our students on grade level standards. We feel this will be a more accurate and fair way to assess our students, as well as give you more information on how to not only best help your child be successful at home, but also enable us as teachers and a school to strengthen our partnership on helping your child with grade level standards. We have created a video and attached a picture to better help you understand what Standards-Based Grading is, and what it will look like here at Red Rock Elementary.
Additionally, we understand you may have questions regarding SBG, and it is important to us that you get your questions answered. Each night during our Open House events, Ms. LeFager and Mr. Thorne will be in the library to answer your questions, and give you as much information as you need to better understand SBG. We truly believe this will be a more impactful way to show your child's progress. Please do not hesitate to stop by in the library, or reach out to either Ms. LeFager or Mr. Thorne with your questions.

Athletics
Tryouts for our first season sports begin Monday, August 1st, right after school. Any 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students interested in trying out for Boys Baseball and Girls Volleyball must have their physical and sports packet completed and turned into Mr. Thorne in order to tryout. Per Canyon Athletic Association, a physical must be completed within the last year to be eligible to play sports. You may download the physical packet below, pick it up in the front office, or students may grab one from Mrs. Rasmussen during PE. Tryouts for Volleyball will end at 4:30, and for baseball will end at 5:00. Students will be dismissed at the back gate, and may be picked up from the back gate parking lot.
Please contact Mr. Thorne if you have any questions.
