Delaney Elementary School
Monthly Newsletter ~ January Edition
Happy New Year!
Dear Delaney Families,
December is always an exciting and busy month, and the winter break comes at just the right time to give us all a chance to rest and rejuvenate. The teachers and students have all returned eager and excited to get back to work.
The mid-year switch for Health and PE classes will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about this change.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this newsletter. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Miss Kathleen Maloney
Delaney Dismissal Reminders
In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff and to help to maintain the flow of traffic at afternoon dismissal, please follow the guidelines below:
Do not arrive at the school until 2:30. The preschool dismissal does not end until 2:30.
Please form two lanes when pulling into the parking lot: the right lane is for pick-up at the cafeteria, and the left lane is for pick-up at the annex.
Parents should remain in their cars at all times.
Staff members will bring students to the cars.
Please pull forward as much as possible and watch for direction from staff members.
Cell phones should not be used while in the parking lot.
If your child needs assistance with buckling a seat belt, please pull out of the pick-up line and park in a space to help.

A Message from the Library
Due to the pandemic, our SAILS Library Network extended our overdue books from last year to this year. Overdue notices were sent in October and thankfully several books were returned. However, there are still several books outstanding and SAILS is now considering them "lost" and have asked for us to send bills. We would rather not issue bills, but instead we would greatly appreciate a replacement book. A "like new" used copy of the book would be much less expensive than the fee we would have to charge, if a bill was sent. Please ask your child/children (even WPS students currently in 7th grade) to double check around their bedrooms or anywhere in the home where books might be hiding. Books can be returned anytime to either the Delaney or Roderick School. We are hopeful more books will be returned soon.
Thank you!
Mrs. Lopez and Mrs. DeVore

Updates from the School Nurses
Flu Vaccine Deadline
COVID-19 Information
The following WPS policies reflect the most recent information provided to the district from the Wrentham Public Health Nurses. In a statement written on December 7, 2020 Wrentham Public Health Nurses wrote “In response to the increase in recent positive COVID 19 cases in our tri-town area, the Public Health nurses overseeing Plainville, Wrentham and Norfolk find it necessary to maintain the 14-day quarantine period for all students and faculty at KPHS and KPMS and all elementary schools in stated towns, who have had an exposure to a confirmed case. Therefore, the test on day 8 for the opt out of quarantine at day 10 no longer applies to students and faculty.”
COVID-19 Daily Symptom Assessment
Students' families must perform a home assessment to identify signs or symptoms of illness before taking the student to the bus stop or to school. Please do not send your child to school with any of the following COVID-19 symptoms:
Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Please do not send your student to school with any of the above symptoms and contact your child’s primary medical provider and Wrentham Public School Nurses for further guidance.
Student/staff member symptomatic with COVID symptoms will be dismissed and COVID testing advised-may return to school/work with documentation of a negative COVID PCR test and must be symptom free for 72 hours and consultation with the Wrentham Public School Nurses.
Siblings/children of a symptomatic student/staff member that attend Wrentham Public Schools will also be dismissed and quarantined until student/staff member provides documentation of a negative COVID PCR test and consultation with the Wrentham Public School Nurses.
WPS Travel Guidance and Testing
Click here to view the most current information about MA COVID Travel Orders.
All students ages 11 and over who travel to a restricted state must be tested for COVID-19 and produce a negative test result or quarantine x 14 days before returning to school. (Please see #8 of the potential traveler scenarios).
For all students ages 10 or younger, parents must provide the school nurse with their (the parents’) negative COVID-19 test results before the student may return to school.
Families who travel to a restricted state should contact a school nurse to discuss specific details.
