Binax Testing Information

The Wachusett Regional School District is offering rapid COVID-19 testing using the Abbott BinaxNow COVID-19 antigen test. Testing will be offered to students and staff who develop symptoms during the school day. The goal of in-school testing is to quickly identify and isolate COVID-19 positive individuals so our school community remains as safe as possible. This is one tool WRSD will use to mitigate the impact of COVID within the school community. Participation in this program is voluntary.

What to Expect: If a student or staff develops symptoms during the school day, the school nurse will complete an assessment. For a symptomatic student, the school nurse will contact their parent/guardian, describe the symptoms, and offer the BinaxNow COVID-19 test.

COVID -19 Symptoms

  • Fever (100.0° Fahrenheit or higher), chills, or shaking chills

  • Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Headache when in combination with other symptoms

  • Muscle aches or body aches

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

  • Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms

  • Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms

Parents/guardians who wish for their child(ren) to participate will register for Project Beacon online, using the links below before the test is administered. Registration can be completed at any time. Registration includes; setting up an account, supplying demographic information, as well as consent to test and to report results.

This test is a screening tool. Participation is voluntary,
and there is no cost to participants to have the test done.

Results and Follow-Up: BinaxNow COVID-19 test results will be available within 30 minutes. Your school nurse will then help you navigate through the next steps of care based on the individual's symptoms and test result.

A friendly reminder that no food or drinks are allowed on vans. This is to keep all of our students safe. Please be sure that backpacks are out of reach of students.
