First Grade News
Week of February 2 - 6
Reading
We will begin Unit 1 in More Adventures of the Superkids this week. We will begin moving a little faster this second half of the year. I will be sending home papers Wednesday for you to review with your child. Some students had trouble in a few areas on the End of the Series Test. I will be reviewing these areas throughout the remainder of the year. Don't forget to continue to AR test and read. This really helps with students comprehension and fluency reading.
I have also started on Sight Words list 15. Please send sight word books with your student daily. Not only do they test with these books, but they use them in writing and spelling activities.
Spelling
We are learning about the "y" used as a vowel this week. We will have the test for unit 1 next Wednesday, The words for this week are down, work, too, first, many, try, jelly, funny, play, and say. Homework packet went home today. You can also go to www.spellingcity.com for games and practice test with words.
Grammar
We will be review nouns, verbs, and adjectives this week. Many of the students had trouble with adjectives last week. We will be reviewing them some more and retesting on them later this week. We will also be learning about comparative adjectives. There is a worksheet in the homework packet for review.
