From The Desk of Annette Doyle
Dear Peter Noyes Families,
It has been so fun seeing your children this week! We hope they have enjoyed getting to know their classmates and teachers while getting back into the swing of school. We can’t wait to welcome our preschool and kindergarten students next week!
ELECTION DAY ON TUESDAY
As you know, Election Day is this Tuesday, September 6. For all our veteran parents who are part of Car Drop Off and/or Car Pick Up, you know we typically get blocked from entering the upper lot between the Town Hall and the Grange on election days; HOWEVER, this year, the Sudbury Police Department is partnering with us to allow us to enter that way as we typically do for arrival and departure by car. No changes this time! YEAH!!!
OPEN HOUSE NIGHT – SEPTEMBER 15, 2022, 6 - 8:30 p.m.
Open House Night is back!! Please mark your calendars and book your babysitters for this not-to-be-missed event! Teachers are eager to share all about the curriculum and special events happening in their classrooms and in their grade levels. We hope you will join us!
FOOD PANTRY
One of our school’s Core Values is Caring for Others. One of the ways we practice caring is by supporting the Sudbury Food Pantry. Please consider donating. Our next school-wide collection will be on Friday, September 23. We collect items inside the school as the students enter the building at arrival. We collect all kinds of food items like pasta, cereal, and canned goods, but we cannot accept perishable items or glass items. Thank you in advance for supporting this worthy cause. We know it makes such a difference for members of our community and beyond.
FREE BREAKFAST PROGRAM – CLARIFICATION
Sudbury Public Schools is participating in the Free Breakfast Program this year. When you sign your child up for this program, they will receive a free breakfast before school in the cafeteria if they participate in SED or they will have breakfast/snack delivered to their classroom to eat during snack time. Keep in mind that snack time for some grade levels occurs in the afternoon, not the morning. You may sign up your student(s) for this program by completing this one time opt-in form. To learn more about this program, please visit the SPS Food Services website.
We hope you enjoy your long weekend!
Warmly,
Annette Doyle

Update on Covid-19 Isolation and Exposure Guidance for Schools
As we return to school, many of the Covid-19 protocols have been relaxed. The Department of Public Health (DPH) and The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) are no longer recommending universal masking, surveillance testing of asymptomatic individuals, contact tracing or quarantine after exposure. While masking is not required, many students and staff are continuing to wear one. Masks are available in school, and will be encouraged during periods of high transmission. Mask wearing is also a proven mitigation measure for reducing the spread of all illnesses as we saw last spring when masking was no longer required. If your child is experiencing illness symptoms but is testing negative for covid, it would be helpful if they would wear a mask at school. Masks are required while in the health office.
Individuals who test positive must isolate for 5 days. To count the 5 day period: Day 0 is the first day of symptoms, or if asymptomatic, the day of the positive test. Day 1 is then the next day. Individuals are allowed to return to activities on day 6 as long as symptoms are resolving and they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications. During days 6-10 they must wear a mask if they are able. If they have a negative test after day 5, or are unable to wear a mask and have a negative test after day 5, they do not need to wear a mask.
If students become symptomatic at school they can remain in school if they have mild symptoms and have a negative rapid test. A second test within 48 hours is recommended, especially if symptoms continue. If the symptomatic student is not tested, they will be sent home and can return if symptoms remain mild and they have a negative test result or an alternative diagnosis from a medical professional.
Quarantine is no longer a requirement after exposure to someone who is positive for covid, regardless of vaccination status. Students may continue to come to school as long as they are asymptomatic, but masking is strongly recommended for those who are able to wear one. Testing on day 6 after exposure is recommended, but even if the result is negative, monitoring for symptoms and wearing a mask for the full 10 days after exposure is strongly recommended. Covid-19 continues to spread very efficiently within families, so if a family member has tested positive, to reduce the risk of transmission in the classroom setting, we would ask that the student wear a mask during the school day.

Fall 2022
Hello Peter Noyes Community!
Welcome back! I am eager to see you all and get back to our school routines. Often I start the year by talking to all of the students about flexibility and spaghetti (we talk about how cooked spaghetti is flexible and uncooked is not). We discuss how we need (our bodies and brains, etc.) to be more like cooked spaghetti! Please know I am here for you. We are all in this together. Please reach out to me if you would like to connect.
Be well!
Regards,
Jen Neville
