Waterford is the oldest city in Ireland and is located in the southeast region and is also part of province of munster. Waterford is famous for it's crystal ware and intriguing medieval history. Population: 46,732.

The three major, cities of Ireland are Dublin, Cork, and Galway.
DUBLIN IRELAND
Dublin is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland and has been the island's largest colonization since the Middle Ages. Established on Ireland's east coast, it is a world center for education, media and international trade and is the only Irish city with a population containing 1 million people. Dublin was founded as a viking settlement and in the 17th century, British Empires second largest city, however in 1922 Dublin became the Irish Free State, now known as the republic of Ireland. Dublin is where the national parliament.(government) There are many landmarks and monuments in Dublin. One of the oldest is the Dublin Castle, which was built in 1204. A newer monument, is the Spire of Dublin,also called, monument of light. It is 398 feet tall, and made of stainless steal, it represents, Dublin's place, in the 21st century. Trinity college, Dublin is visited to see the “Book of Kells”. This illustrated manuscript was created by Irish monks in the 800s AD. Other popular places include an old iron foot bridge, called the Ha’penny Bridge, the molly malone statue, St Patricks Cathedral and the Guinness Brewery.
CORK IRELAND
Cork is the biggest city in the province of Munster. It is in Ireland’s largest county, County Cork. Cork is the economic and industrial heart of the county. Often called by Corkonians as the "real capital of Ireland", it is one of Ireland's oldest cities, existing since the 900s. The Greater Cork area has a population of over 380,000 people. There are many interesting sights in cork, for example, St. Anne’s Church has a 300 year old tower where you can ring the Shandon Bells, and and admire the French Gothic spires of st. Pinbarren’s Cathedral. But no visit to Cork would be complete without visiting the Blarney Castle, home to the famous Blarney Stone. Kissing the stone is a tradition and said to give the gift of eloquence.
Galway Ireland
Galway is a coastal city situated on the Northern shore of Galway Bay on the west coast of Ireland. It is the largest city in the province of Connacht. Galway is also a core for industry, education, healthcare,administration,the arts, and economy . Galway is also a major tourist destination and and is second only to Dublin. It is also called by locals as Ireland’s Cultural Heart, famous for many festivals, events and vibrant lifestyle. Places of interest include Lynch’s Castle, which is said to be the greatest medieval house existing in Ireland. Also the Church of Ireland, St. Nicholas’s Collegiate Church which was built in 1320 and is the largest medieval church still actively used everyday in Ireland.

Customs of Ireland include a lively folk culture, many people take part in musical, dance and storytelling celebrations. people also like to produce crafts and make items such as glass, ceramics, linens, embroidery and knitwear.The local pub is a major center for small villages and neighborhoods and important for the community to come together for conversation, storytelling and jokes. Traditions of Ireland are linked closely to religion because Ireland has a large Roman Catholic majority, around 90 percent. Christmas is very special to the Irish and holy symbols and nativity scenes cover Ireland during the Christmas Holidays. A huge majority of Irish attend Christmas Mass at church and enjoy a traditional christmas dinner. St Stephen’s Day is another important holiday during Christmas and falls the day after Christmas, it is known also as Boxing day and most Irish treat it as a day of rest to visit the church and enjoy another festive meal. St. Patricks day is also a very popular holiday celebrated all around the world to help us remember our irish ancestors. Ireland also started Halloween , it was known as Samhain back in the year 835 and the introduction of Christianity played a huge part in Samhain because people dressed up as evil spirits to pacify them and the custom of trick and treating happened because children went door to door offering prayers for the souls of the deceased in exchange or food.
IRISH FOOD
The main diet of the Irish is potatoes, grains and dairy. Also since Ireland is surrounded by the sea, the cuisine has a lot of seafood. Hearty soups and Irish stews are also a popular and the most common meats are lamb, beef and pork. Cabbage is a popular vegetable and Irish stew has been the Irish national dish for over two centuries. Soda bread which is a crusty brown bread is also a national dish of Ireland. Popular beverages include tea and alcoholic beverages are popular like whisky and beer. “Irish coffee,” is popular around the world and it is whisky with coffee and whipped cream.
LATITUDE AND LOGITUDE
Ireland is in the continent of Europe and has a latitude of 53 degrees North and longitude 8 degrees West. Carrauntoohil mountain in County Kerry has the highest peak at 3,415 ft above sea level. Ireland has a rugged coastline with many islands, peninsulas and bays. The River Shannon runs through the middle of Ireland and is 240 miles long, the longest in the country. Ireland’s largest lake is Lough Corrib near Galway. The climate of Ireland is temperate and does not have temperature extremes. It is mild with a lot of rainfall and the average temperature is 50 degrees fahrenheit.
