Fammatre Newsletter
April 15, 2020
Principal Message
Dear Fammatre Families,
It's been a busy week! Students have been diligently completing assignments and staff are working hard to continue to develop quality distance learning opportunities. We've also begun to focus on broader school-wide activities and programs to deepen connections across classrooms.
Recognizing students for doing the right thing has been a critical part of Fammatre's approach to Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Fammatre students Rock! Both in-person and online, our students routinely demonstrate the Fammatre Be's: Be Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Caring. As such, we feel it is important to keep recognizing students for doing the right thing. Starting this week, we are launching digital Falcon Flyer recognitions and Fabulous Falcon Awards. Be watching for these student recognitions to be posted in Google and Seesaw Classrooms.
Fammatre's Student Council plays an important role in building school spirit. Our spring reps met with Mrs. Higa and me to brainstorm ways to continue to build school spirit from a distance. Some of the initiatives these student leaders are driving are shared with you below in this newsletter.
Culminating year-end activities such as Open House, 5th Grade promotion and the Talent Show are highly anticipated events for students, staff, and families during the final months of school. Although some of the traditional commemorative events may not be feasible this year, we are exploring innovative ways to create new traditions. As a start, we are asking for all students to submit one image of a favorite piece of art or classwork they have created by May 15th. Here is the link to submit: https://forms.gle/Pm5fVY5oeU2EEitC6. We will use these images to build an online Art Gallery showcasing student work as part of Fammatre's Virtual Open House to go live in late May. Details on this and other year-end events will be shared out in the coming weeks.
Warmly,
Mrs. Smith
