The Bobcat Bulletin

"....and they're off!"
Hello GBS Bobcats!
Welcome back, everyone! We are so glad that all of you are with us this week. While the chilly weather is still with us, let's not forget to stay bundled up, and stay safe outside while coming and going to school. We wouldn't want anyone to slip, or to get a cold.
We have a lot of fun things going on this week. Today after school for instance, we will be having our final basketball game for both the boys and girls. Tomorrow, we will begin NWEA testing. We also have a mandatory meeting for our 8th graders tomorrow, so read on below to find out more about each of those.
Also, a clarifying email letter went out last week regarding some recent rounds of testing that were completed on our water here at the school. I am pleased to report that all of our drinking fountains were found to be safe. If you'd like more details on all of the water sites tested, etc., please (again) refer to the attached letter.
One last quick reminder: we have noticed that some arrivals are getting here at 7:20 AM or later. Please try to arrive at drop-off before 7:10, but no later than 7:15. We want to ensure that all of our students are able to participate in Advisory, Morning Announcements, and so on, and a late start to the day seems to have a negative domino effect on them and the rest of their day. Let's start it right!
Thanks again for being part of the best school community there is!
- Joe Wright, Assistant Principal
Quote of the Day:
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
– Thomas Edison
Final Basketball Game!
On Thursday this past week, both teams traveled to SMS, and played against their B teams. We ended up winning both contests, thanks to some great playmaking and teamwork.
This result means the Boys team have 8 wins this season, and the Girls with 7 wins! And don't forget; today is their very last game! Here at home / GBS, starting at 3:30 for the boys, and 4:45 for the girls' team. Come celebrate one last hurrah!
Reminder: 8th Grade Transition Happenings
In conjunction with that, there will be an online information meeting at ConVal HS on Monday, Feb. 20th, via Zoom at 6 PM. An emailed letter will be going out shortly, but you can also read that letter here.
The following week, ConVal HS Counselors will pay a visit to GBS on Tuesday, February 21st in the morning to provide some additional info on classes, opportunities at the HS, etc., before Freshman Class Registrations begins (that same day). This registration will continue through March.
"Wooooaahhh.....we're halfway there......"
Attention 8th Graders: During the 8th Grade Celebration, we traditionally like to have a slideshow showing baby pictures of the students, alongside their current photos, to show just how far they have come since they were littles.
As the title suggests, about half of you have given a submission, but many of you still have not! Ms. Kidd would be so grateful if you can share any such photos by sending them with your student to give her, or emailing her directly at ekidd@conval.edu. Thank you!
Mattress Fundraiser
Save the date! GBS, SMS and CVHS are joining forces in a Mattress Fundraiser. Please note: this fundraiser does not have the students or parents/guardians needing to sell or attend an event.
If you, friends, neighbors or family members buy a Mattress and say who referred you, that student (8th through 12 grade) or school (GBS, SMS or CVHS) will receive the profits!
8th through 12th Grade music students will receive fundraising money in their school account and go towards a Music Disney Trip next spring! The high school cafeteria will be turned into a Mattress showroom and the event coordinators will take care of everything.
