October/November 2023
October is National Bully Prevention Month
Hello Hirsch Families,
In the month of October, we will be discussing Bully Prevention themes through counseling lessons and messages during morning announcements. On October 18th we will be celebrating Unity Day with students all over the United States by wearing Orange to school.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2023
WEAR AND SHARE ORANGE
to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.
Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days
Hirsch Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23-26th. We will dress up and share positive messages daily about choosing to live drug and alcohol free. Please take time to discuss with your children the importance of making healthy choices and to "Be Kind to your Mind! LIve Drug Free!"
Gifted and Talented Screening
Gifted and Talented Screening will take place October 30th through 10th. All 5th grade students will be screened as well as students in other grade levels that have been referred for screening by their teachers, parents or other community members. All First Grade Students will be screened for participation in the Gifted and Talented Program in the Fall!
If you as a parent do NOT want your child screened for participation in the gifted and talented program here at Hirsch Elementary School, please fill out this online OPT OUT form you can download here. If you would like a paper copy of this OPT OUT form please let Ms. Antonucci know.
November is Career Exploration Month
Our Counseling Lessons for the month of November will be centered around exploring and investigating different careers and interests. We will be having a fun and informative Career Day on Thursday, November 30th from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We need parents and community members to volunteer to come in and share about your careers and what you do for a living. We want as many careers as possible to expose our students to the wonderful world of work and the many opportunities out there for them to work towards. Without volunteers we will not be able to pull this off!
If you would be interested in volunteering, please send me a quick email at tantonucci1@saisd.net. Tell me your name, your occupation and your child's name, grade and teacher's name. I will reach out to you and share more information about this important upcoming event!
If you have any questions, thoughts or suggestions, please let me know!
