Dear Alto Families,
It has been a fun week at our school! Students were very excited to shop for family and friends at the Kids’ Holiday Shop. Thank you to the parents involved in organizing and running the shop this past week. It is important to know that the reason we run the holiday shop is to provide an experience for students that they seem to enjoy. It is fun to see the careful thought they put into selecting gifts. When visiting the shop, it is very common for me to be asked, “Mr. Papes, what do you think I should get for my…..mom, dad, brother, sister, etc.” We choose to only take 10% because we want to keep prices as low as possible. Fundraising is not our priority in providing this fun opportunity for our students.
5th Graders To Schneider Manor
Our 5th graders brought some holiday cheer to Schneider Manor senior residents yesterday. They prepared cards and goodie bags to hand deliver to the residents. They also performed the songs they have been practicing for their music program next week. It was a pleasure to see the joy this brought to our neighbors at Schneider Manor. A big THANK YOU to our 5th grade teachers and Mrs. Gumina for helping to provide this opportunity to give to others.
4th and 5th Grade Music Program
The 4th and 5th grade music program will be held at the school on Wednesday, December 14th. We have scheduled two program times (10 AM and 2 PM) to provide more flexibility to those attending and to spread out the crowd. We do not have the room in our gym to accommodate all attendees comfortably for one show. Therefore, we ask that parents and other attendees select one time to attend. We are looking forward to this special event next week!
LMS Band and Orchestra Visit
We are excited to welcome Lowell Middle School band and orchestra students next Tuesday. They will be performing for our students.
Holiday Family Fun Night
We had tremendous attendance last Friday at our Holiday Family Fun Night! It was great to bring our families together for a special evening of roller skating, craft making, and socializing. Thank you to everyone who attended!
Toys For Tots
We would like to send a personal thank you to our families for donating 679 toys!!! That is an amazing number of toys! Our Early Act group even made the morning news as they were dropping off our toys. Check out the story below. Once again THANK YOU for your generosity, and please know that you will brighten Christmas morning for so many families in need! Special shout out to Mrs. Kamp’s room and Mr. Wright’s room for winning the pizza party, there was a two way tie, each classroom donating 167 toys!!! Also, thank you to Mrs. Kamps, Mrs. Wobma, and the Early Act group for leading the charge for this great cause.
Report Cards
1st trimester report cards will be coming home today. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
As a reminder, the Holiday Break is December 19th-January 2nd. School will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Have a great weekend!

Music Notes
The fifth graders performed at Schneider Manor Thursday morning! The FOURTH and FIFTH GRADERS will perform their concert on Wednesday, December 14 at 10 am and 2 pm in the ALTO GYM! Plan on attending one of the concerts!
Our Kindergartners have been learning some holiday songs - Angel Band, Rudolph, Up on A Housetop.
We also have been playing a really fine game of Ring Around the Rosie and are making really still and quiet statues!
First and Second Graders have also been learning holiday songs. "December is a Time for Love" has been complete with rhythm instruments. We have talked about beat, rhythm, melody, and form in the song.
Our Second and Third Graders are also singing some holiday songs as well as learning some of their songs for their concert towards the end of February.
Musically yours,
Mrs. Gumina - Music Teacher
