Rockbrook Update
Extended Learning Info for Families and Students

Principal's Update
Happy Tuesday, and I hope this finds you well. As we begin another week of extended learning, please note some important changes that will be occurring. Following spring break our teachers across the district will be shifting to activities designed to review and strengthen student skills, many taught earlier in the year. This is to help make sure that all students at a particular grade level are in a similar place.
This week teachers have the opportunity to preview and try out some of these lessons to help prepare for this transition. As such, your child's lessons may look a little different this week, though teachers will continue to use the learning platform you and your child have become accustomed to, and may still include additional "May Do" activities to stretch and enrich the learning available to each child.
Lastly, a quick reminder for all of our Bulldogs to be sure and complete your specials lessons each day. Links for specials are available below and typically included somewhere on your child's classroom teacher's communication.
If your family should need anything further this week, don't hesitate to contact me via email (higginbotham.garret@westside66.net) or phone (402.390.6476)
#WeAreWestside - #WeAreBulldogs

Garret Higginbotham, Principal
Rockbrook Wave Parade - Wed, April 1st @ 3:30pm
If our parade route doesn't pass your home or if you don't live in the surrounding neighborhood, feel free to join us somewhere along the route. We encourage families to maintain the recommended distance of 6ft, and also request that all families participate at a safe distance from the street. The Rockbrook South Parking Lot might be one easy place to do so.
If you aren't able to join us we'll also be producing a virtual wave parade video that will be sent out after the parade.
Westside Community Schools Staff Appreciation Week Mar 30 - Apr 3
Every year, our district highlights one week to celebrate our fantastic employees. Though this special week looks a bit different this year, we hope you can help us express our sincere gratitude for everything our staff members do, especially now!
Here are a few ideas you and your family might consider:
- Ask your student to draw a picture showing why they love their teacher, principal, nutrition services worker, custodian, or any other Westside employee!
- Write a letter to your teacher or principal! You can mail these to your school, or send to them over email.
- Share a special message on social media!
We would LOVE to see what you create! If you are willing, please share your ‘signs of appreciation’ on social media, using #WeAreWestside and #WeAppreciateWestside. Thank you for all you do for ALL of our staff members in our schools!
April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day
As an opportunity to learn a little more about Autism, your child might wish to watch one of the following two videos. There are many other great resources. We encourage your family to help us recognize Autism Awareness by wearing an Autism Awareness shirt, or even just wearing blue to show support for inclusion at Rockbrook!
