Class Recordings and Technical Difficulties

We are working with our new Platform Reps to resolve some of these tech issues. Thank you for your patience and for submitting tech tickets as needed.

Adding Electives

Students have until September 19th to add Elective classes. If you are interested in picking up another class, please complete the grade level Elective Form, and the new course will be available in Canvas the following day.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Suicide prevention is important every day, but September is Suicide Prevention Awareness month. Please reach out to the Virtual Academy Counselor: Lauren Biles for more information or to discuss concerns about a student. Please support our prevention efforts by reviewing and bookmarking important resources:

  • Sept. 13: New PBS Documentary Facing Suicide premiers. A new documentary explores the stories of Americans impacted by suicide, and journeys to the frontlines of medical and scientific research to meet those who are working to help people at risk.

AES Engineering Scholarship

AES Engineering Scholarship:

Amount of award: $500.00

Deadline for entry: October 8th

This award is available to high school seniors planning on attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

Reporting Absences

Parents/Guardians must call the attendance office to report a student's absence

What we need to know: Student name, student ID, and reason for absence

Excused absences include:

  • Personal illness, medical, psychological and dental care
  • Illness or death in the family
  • Family emergencies
  • Release time for religious instruction
  • Observance of religious holidays
  • Pre-arranged absences
  • School sponsored activities

Use Canvas to enter live class sessions

As a best practice, you should log into the Canvas card for your class each day in order to get the link for your live class. These links may be updated for a variety of reasons, like having a substitute, so it is always best to enter a live class through the Canvas card.
