Character Matters at SRES

Character Building

For the 2022-2023 School Year, we will focus on building character through Character Education with our scholars. Monthly, during Morning Meetings, we will focus on a different character trait. Your child should be able to identify the monthly trait, provide a definition and have examples on ways to show that trait.

You will receive a monthly newsletter highlighting our focused trait and examples of how to aligned what we are learning at school with at home practices.

Citzenship

A good citizen is someone who helps others, follows the rules, and respects others. A good citizen also is respectful of other people and their property, respectful of school property, follows school rules and displays good character (responsibility, honesty, good listening, kindness). You can be a good citizen by respecting others. This makes a space feel safe.

Synonyms: Privilege & Democracy

Quote:

To be a good citizen, it's important to be able to put yourself in other people's shoes and see the big picture. If everything you see is rooted in your own identity, that becomes difficult or impossible.
