Autumn Creek Elementary Newsletter

Principal's Message
We hope you had a great October break with your family! Our staff definitely enjoyed some rest and rejuvenation time and has come back with excitement. If you haven't done so lately, please write a note or send a message to your child's teacher to tell them how much you appreciate them. Those small things go a long way!
This week we will have our first ever movie night at Generation Park, sponsored by our PTO! It will be fun and we are hoping that the weather cooperates with us. Meet us from 7-9pm for a screening of Coco and complementary snacks!
Since we are talking about evening events, please mark your calendar for Monster Math Mashup night with the trunk or treat theme, coming up in late October. More details and a flyer can be found further in this newsletter. Special thanks go to Mia Betancourt, our math coach, and the family engagement committee of Autumn Creek for helping us to put this together. And we especially want to thank our PTO for their help in getting our first evening school event off the ground!
Construction Update
Over the break a lot of work was done on our building. The construction crew worked on some new wiring that we had requested in the building. They also hung curtains on our stage in the cafeteria, and continued working on the outside awning and some roofing work.
If you are wondering when our grass is going to be cut, that should be happening in the next 24 hours. We have continued to have to wait on construction to finish with the outside grading of the dirt spaces so that the district can take over the outside maintenance.
Staff Favorite Book
Mrs. Brittaney Price shares her favorite book with us this week called, "The Magical Yet" written by Angela Di Terlizzi.
The Magical Yet is a sweet book with a message of growth mindset. It begins with a little girl giving up on learning to ride a bike and goes through her practicing and not giving up until she's an adult and owns a bike shop. There are also secondary characters that show determination to overcome obstacles.
Instructional Strategy for Families
ACE Procedures and Expectations
- We do encourage students who are able to do so to bike to school each day. It's a great way to get exercise and take some ownership of their transportation. If you child is riding a bike to school, PLEASE make sure they have a helmet to wear for safety!
If your kindergartener through 2nd grader is a walker, please be sure you are there to meet them no later than 3:25. Students not picked up by then will be taken back to the office for pickup. If your child has an older sibling in 4th or 5th grade, they may walk home with them.
Breakfast is served at ACE beginning at 7:30am each day and ends at 8am. If your child eats breakfast here, please make sure they are in the cafeteria no later than 7:45 so they have enough time to eat.
Interested in eating lunch with your student? Feel free to drop by on Tuesdays or Thursdays. We will give you a space at one of our high tables by the window to eat with your child!
We are asking that families purchase a set of earphones or earbuds that can be used with our technology in the building. The dollar stores around us do keep them in stock. They do not need to be fancy. This will just help keep noise down as your child is working with technology in the classroom.
Once you purchase them, please send the earbuds/ headphones to school with your child just as you would for other school supplies. Teachers may label and collect them so they don't get lost.
