New Staff Devices
New staff devices are FINALLY on their way, after months and months of Mrs. Westphal saying so. Once your staff laptop has been replaced with a new one, you will not have access to any files stored on the hard drive of your old laptop. Please make sure all files from your staff laptop are uploaded to your Google Drive. Office staff, this applies to you, too! Your desktop will be replaced, taking with it all your files. Please ensure that all files in your local or personal drive have been uploaded to your Google Drive or the K: drive. Deadline is December 2.
Advanced Choir Concert is on Wednesday!
WEEKLY NEWS
RMS PSYCHOLOGIST: We’d like to officially welcome Diana Keys to our RMS staff as our new School Psychologist. Diana has previously worked at VUSD as a full time psychologist and has been subbing at RMS for the last year. Diana enjoyed our school so much that she has decided to make RMS her new “work home”. Please give her a warm welcome when you see her on campus and stop by her office any time to say hello. You are sure to be greeted with a warm and welcoming smile!
Baby Shower for Liz Vickery will be Tuesday, November 5th in the library at 3:30pm.
NEW STUDENT PROCEDURES: When new students come to RMS, our counselors have a big job getting them set up. The kids complete a new student "inventory," counselors get them a buddy to take them to lunch, and create their class schedule. We then have the students complete their iReady testing, which takes close to a week. In order to minimize the impact on their academic classes, admin will be pulling students from their elective/PE classes for the first week to have them complete the iReady test in the library. We hope this will help the kids get settled faster.
Wildcats, the “Wildcats Got Talent Show” is coming up on November 21st. Invite your family and friends to come watch. Signup sheets are in the office or CLICK HERE for the sign up sheet. The deadline to sign up is October 25th.
Staff are encouraged to participate!!! Help us make this a school whose community event and get involved!
WE NEED PICTURES! Parents love to see what is happening at school with their kids. Please share pictures or information that you want to share with me, or please call me and I will take pictures of the exciting activities in your class. We want to increase communication with our Wildcat families about our amazing school and how great our programs and events are.
Thank you to all of you who paid dues to the Social Committee. These dues help us pay for all sorts of fun activities such as Staff Meetings, Harvest Lunch, on-site and off-site Holiday shenanigans, End-of-Year Extravaganza and much more!!

"Strategies that require low cognitive effort—such as passively listening to a lecture—are often perceived by students to be more effective than active strategies such as hands-on experimentation and group problem-solving. The group dynamic can make students feel frustrated and “painfully aware of their lack of understanding,” but the study concluded that the more effort and struggle involved—hallmarks of a student-centered, active approach—the more students learned."
Check out this brief article that highlights the benefits of "productive struggle" and active, hands-on learning!
RMS PE STUD CLUB!
Ms. Castellanos shared that Mr. Sand started this challenge quite a while ago as a way to teach kids that they are capable of more than they think they are. RMS PE has transformed it this year into a big challenge and the kids are on FIRE about it! PE has formally invited everyone to try out as well. The only rule is that you have to give PE a heads up if you'd like to attempt one so that one of them can observe it. If you make it, you get a super cool stud club shirt!
