PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou,

Tonight at 11:59 pm is the start of Alert Level 3. It is certainly good for us to be supporting our essential workforce. Thank you for your work over the past few weeks during this challenging time. Many of you have been trying to manage work and young children in unison and this is no easy feat.

Bubbles was a word that after 2020 Lockdown, I vowed and declared I never wanted to hear again. Sadly here we are, talking about Bubbles once more. For those students attending school tomorrow (Wednesday), you will be contacted by your child's "Bubble Teacher" this afternoon. If this has not happened, please contact me on principal@hnps.school.nz. We will continue to support all children who remain learning from home, through our distance learning programme. Here's hoping Wednesday of next week will see us operating at Alert Level 2 and we can have all our students back at school. We certainly look forward to that!

Unfortunately with the higher alert levels comes the cancellation or postponement of a number of fun events, such as Kids Sing, Cross Country and the Rex Graham Cup. The Senior Cultural performance and Greenmeadows Cultural exchange are also in the balance. We will update you in due course as to whether these events will be rescheduled.

We had a few of our students featuring on TV over the past week. I understand the Sophia Morris and her brother Tom, were reintacting Seven Sharp's Hillary and Jeremy, and Grace Feltham was sharing her "Cafe" on the "What Now" TV show. Outstanding stuff kids.

We hope to see the Waupukarau Construction team back on deck tomorrow. They had been making excellent progress up until Lockdown and the roof is now on.

In the meantime, keep up the great work you are doing with your families, take care and let us know how we can best support you and your whānau. Kia kaha!

Ngā mihi

Peak Trail Blazer Update

The T-shirt Slogan Competition has now officially closed. Thank you all for your amazing entries. We are looking forward to choosing the winning slogan. It will be a tough decision!

The winning slogan will be printed on the front of 500 t-shirts which are worn as school uniform in term 4 and also by the Peak Trail Blazer competitors.

We will only be doing one t-shirt order this year and t-shirt orders will need to be in by the last week of term 3, Wednesday 29th September. If you would like to order a t-shirt for your child to wear next term, you can purchase online at https://eventplus.net/PTB21

We have already had a large number of entries for the Tainui Trail. We have to cap the numbers on this trail to comply with the council, so make sure you get your families entries in.

The Peak Trail Blazer is being held this year on the 31st October, which is Halloween so the organising team has a lot of fun planned for the children. If anyone would like to help or support the Peak Trail Blazer in any way please contact Catherine Wedd on 0212886770 or email peaktrailblazer@hnps.school.nz
