SPRING 2021 ISSUE IV

Dear Birmingham Families,

Spring is in the air and we are looking forward to this new season and the hope that it brings with it. We have all had a very challenging time but have dug deep to keep moving forward and supporting our loved ones and remembering those we lost along the way. Your Birmingham counselors want to remind you that we are here to support our students and families. Birmingham cares and wants you to know you are not alone because together we are stronger! GRADE LEVEL COUNSELOR UPDATES

9th Grade

Finishing up programming students for 10th grade. Counselors will be reaching out to students and parents based on the Second Progress Report in terms of grades and academic interventions. Counselors will be working on enrolling students for summer school. Feel free to reach out regarding any questions you may have!

10th Grade

Summer school classes have been input. Your 10th grade counselors are finishing up scheduling for junior year. Please encourage your student to check and read their school email daily because counselors may be reaching out to verify some course selections for next year. Remember to reach out to your counselors regarding questions you might have about next year's classes.

11th Grade

Your 11th grade counselors have met with all students and input summer courses. Some students are programmed to attend both summer sessions and it is critical that they attend. The 11th grade counselors are also following up with students struggling in their classes to see what supports they need.


SBAC for 11th Grade begins April 20th help us get your student ready to do their part for Birmingham! Please help us encourage our 11th graders to do their best on the SBAC Math and English sections. This test is very important for Birmingham because it has the power to show why Birmingham is the best high school in the San Fernando Valley! Remind your student to use ACHIEVE 3000 to higher reading Lexile Score to 1185. This score determines reading level and college and career readiness. It also helps students perform well on SBAC!


Remember on the days of the test to get a good night's rest, eat breakfast and try your best!! Continue to make us proud class of 2022!!! You guys got this!

12th Grade

Senior college acceptances have started coming in! Remember to notify your 12th grade counselors and college counselors want to celebrate your college acceptances with you!!


Students who are failing one or more graduation requirements at the 12-week progress report will be getting a certified letter sent home because they are in danger of not graduating. If your student is currently failing a class, please have them check in with their teacher about missing assignments. If the teacher is allowing your student to turn in late work, please get the missing work in as soon as possible. Your student's graduation depends on whether they pass their classes.

11th Grade SBAC TESTING

Select Grade "11"
Select "English or Math" PINK boxes

Click "Select" at the bottom
Click the "Sound and Video Playback check" to make sure settings are functional
Select "I could play the sound and video" option
Click "Continue" at the bottom
Click "Begin Test Now"
