We will also be having a Carnival in the Spring. Watch for more information on this wonderful upcoming event.

Hope to see you on February 1st!

From the Nurse...

February is National Children's Dental Health Month. To help prevent tooth decay, children should brush their teeth for two minutes twice a day and change toothbrushes every three months. Parents should encourage healthy snacks and limit sweets and soda. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits will help children to get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Counselor's Corner

Cold weather has arrived which means some days you may be stuck indoors. Through games and activities your child can learn some important social skills such as turn taking and cooperation. Board games such as Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders are great games that require turn taking . Hide and seek is also a great game you can play to help teach your child the concept of turn taking. Activities such as puzzles, blocks, and pretend play can help teach the concept of cooperation when played with others. When playing the games or activities, you can talk to your child about the particular skill and praise them for a job well done!

Valentine's Info

  • We do not have classroom Valentine's party at ECEC. Instead we spend class time doing fun hands on educational activities involving hearts, friendship and social skills.

Early Out Wednesday for February & Make Up Day

Early release day for February is Valentine's Day-February 14th. Bus riders leave at 11 and car riders at 12. No PM Session.

WE HAVE A MAKE UP DAY ON FEBRUARY 19TH SO WE WILL HAVE SCHOOL!

Snow Day Information

Inclement weather is always a possibility especially now that it is January. Every effort will be made to provide cancellation notices as early as possible. If Lincoln County R-III is closed then ECEC is closed. As soon as a decision is made, local radio and television stations are notified. School closings will be sent via the district's FREE mobile app, listed on the District website, sent via a parent notification system and posted on Facebook. You can also follow us on Twitter @Linc_R3.

Please know that it is always YOUR decision whether to bring your child to school. We understand that you will make the best judgement for your own situation.

School closed, early release and late start are all options that the District may use. In the event of school being closed no classes will be held that day. If early release is used then bus riders will leave at 11 and car riders at 12 and no afternoon session. In the event of a late start, all AM classes will be canceled and the PM class will be in session at 1pm, full day students arrive at 12pm. Lunch will be served as normal.

It is possible that ECEC will need to adjust these times due to the timing of the weather, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Character Connection

Our character word of the month is compassion. Compassion is about noticing when others are hurting whether it is a cut knee or sad feelings. It is about doing what we can to help others and taking the time to listen. The easiest way to teach compassion is to simply model it for our children. Compassion can have a rippling effect so showing compassion to one person can encourage them to show compassion to another person. Some books that teach compassion and empathy are The Boy and the Whale; Those Shoes; Don't Laugh at Me; and Eggbert the Slightly Cracked Egg.

Heart Healthy Month is February!

Our students will engage in fun activities the week of February 5th thru 9th to learn how to keep their bodies active and hearts healthy. We are participating in Jump Rope for Heart. This program teaches heart-healthy habits and helps the American Heart Association raise money for research and education that savelives. More information will be coming home the first week of February.

REMINDERS

  • If your child arrives late to school, you must sign them in at the office.
  • Please put your child's name on anything sent to school. Any paperwork, coats, etc.
  • We have a Lost and Found. If your child is missing an item, please stop by the office.

READING CALENDAR

The Nightly Reading Record Sheet is an amazing way to make sure reading is a priority in your house. When your child returns any monthly reading calendar completely filled in, at any time, they will receive a fun book. If they complete 6 calendars in the school year, they will get to pick a book from our “library,” Ms. Kelly will read it to them, and then they get to take it home. The Record sheet can be found and printed here

Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)

Each month a PBIS sheet will come home with your child to help your family support the positive behavior that your child is learning and practicing at school. Hopefully PBIS will encourage your child have positive behavior at home as well. Please read over each item on the monthly PBIS sheet and when your child has completed those tasks he or she can return it to school to add a cutout to our PBIS wall. A copy of the form can be found at this link. https://www.troy.k12.mo.us/Domain/1687
