Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians:
It's official! Our fourth and fifth graders have voted and 78% of students selected the logo posted above. This is just the beginning of an exciting transition for us as a Grade 5/6 school next year. So, what animal is it? It is a Wildcat, just like WMS. Did you know that in the mid-1970s, back when GBS & WCS were the only schools in Windham, former WCS Principal Mr. Jim Gratton (father of current WMS Assistant Principal, Jay Gratton) made the recommendation for Center School to adopt the Wildcat mascot?! We love to honor traditions and this is a great one. Go Windham and Go Wildcats!
I would like to thank parents and guardians for sending our placement team information that will be helpful with student placement next year. All placement information was due by today, Friday, April 12. We always strive to create positive conditions for students to have a successful year at school and look forward to the process this year. There will be familiarity and new experiences, which is beneficial for the overall develop of children. There are no perfect placement scenarios and we ask that you approach this year with an open mind once again. Please remember that if your child hears or senses your hesitation about his/her placement, this will increase the anxiety before the school year has started. We appreciate your support!
We are looking forward to our informational evening for the parents of incoming Grade 5 & 6 students. We are happy to have our 6th Grade team assembled and continue to refine our plans for next year's transition. We hope that you are able to make it to our presentation on May 2 at 6:00 p.m.
We have included the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System calendar for the month of May. There are many indicators of student performance, and this is one single significant instrument that helps us to inform our instructional practices and provide a glimpse into how our students are performing. Like anything else, we preach the importance of effort and grit and plan to coordinate an incentive-based raffle like we did last year. Fueling up with a complete breakfast and getting a good night's rest are very important for students on these days. We are always excited to see our overall school performance and certainly hope to see continued growth!
Lastly, for any of our parents, guardians, or community members running the Marathon on Monday, we wanted to wish you good luck! Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Rory O’Connor

Angst Documentary - Tuesday, April 16
Windham High School is hosting a screening of Angst, a 56-minute film and virtual reality experience that explores anxiety, its causes, effects and what we can do about it. Angst features candid interviews with kids and young adults (including Michael Phelps!) who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they’ve learned about it. The film includes discussions with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects, as well as help, resources and tools.
