Calling all Eagles to participate in 2017 adopt a mile program at pnc atlanta 10 miler

Evansdale is one of the 10 nonprofit organizations selected for the Atlanta Track Club Adopt a Mile program held in conjunction with the PNC Atlanta 10 Miler & 5K, October 22nd. Evansdale will “adopt” a mile along the 10-mile course, creating a cheer zone and providing course entertainment.

Our theme is "Fly Like an Eagle". Participants will be making costume wings, blasting motivational music, and cheering as loudly as possible. The larger the group we have, the more money Evansdale receives. This is a great event for parents, kids, friends, and neighbors. Fernbank Science Center Celebrates 50 Years

Since 1967, Fernbank Science Center has supported science education in DeKalb County School District and the wider community. Nearly every student who has attended a DeKalb school has experienced planetarium shows in the Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium, gone for nature walks in Fernbank Forest or through the Reach Program, or had a Fernbank Science Center Science Specialist teach them at their school or in the labs at the center. Generations of students have been touched with what the science center has to offer. We invite all of DeKalb to celebrate this golden anniversary with us in 2017 and 2018 at the following special programs:

Saturday, October 28, 2017 Fun with Flashlights! The youngest scientists put on their costumes and bring flashlights to the planetarium for a fun activity in the dark.

Saturday, November 11, 2017 Chemistry Day: Meet the Elements! Explore the chemical world around us at our Chemistry Day with hands-on experiments and demonstrations, and our famous Chemical Magic Show.

Friday, December 1, 2017 John Serrie Holiday 50 Year Anniversary Concert The magic of the holidays celebrated through music in the Jim Cherry Planetarium.

Look for more details for each of these events and the complete event list through 2018 on our website fsc.fernbank.edu.
