NEW ANA Certification Requirements at OLOLRMC
As of January 1, 2016, full and part-time team members who must maintain AHA certification are required to take their course through the Our Lady of the Lake AHA Training Center. The Clinical Education Center is located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital right past the TNCC hallway (the old MICU). Please call (225) 765-5220 for more information.
Off-Service Handoffs
The process for Off-Service Handoffs has been formalized to establish responsible parties as follows:

- P2P regarding INpt/Obs--HMS Attending that dropped the first follow-up charge
- P2P regarding SNF/Rehab--Current HMS Attending of Patient's team
- Post Discharge Labs/Tests--Current HMS Attending of the Team the Patient was discharged from
- Anything not listed--Current HMS Attending of the Team the Patient was discharged from
MD/CCC Communication
MD/CCC Communication and Collaboration is very important to expedite discharge, improve length of stay, and improve patient satisfaction. Physicians and Nurses should be communicating potential discharges for the present day, potential discharges for the next day, potential hurdles at discharge, home needs, and cancelled discharges at least twice per day.
