Staff Stuff
As you know, today is a minimum day, with this afternoon set aside for teams to meet and collaborate. Please take some time to discuss information from your PD Focus Groups and/or Individual PD Day. This is also time you can spend discussing your students as we approach the end of the quarter. Your team reps should have students' CAASPP scores for you to use in your discussion.
Remember that our Great California Shake Out is next Thursday, the 18th. Cliff has already sent out information, including the schedule for the day.
I've included the Halloween Dress Guidelines this week, in case students ask. Be sure to check out the video below with an inspirational story about a local SCV kid.
Have a great weekend!

Rick Wormeli PD Opportunity
Rick Wormeli, leading expert on Differentiation, will be providing a two-day professional development for interested Hart District teachers on January 10 and 11, the last two days of winter break. This is a unique opportunity to learn from him directly. Attendees will be provided a copy of his latest book, Fair Isn't Always Equal. Each day’s session will be from 8:00 to 3:00, with breakfast snacks provided, and an hour break for lunch. Teachers will not be paid to attend these days -- participation is completely voluntary. If you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible so I can submit your name and reserve your spot!
Halloween Dress Guidelines
Students are allowed to dress up for Halloween at Arroyo Seco. In addition to our Arroyo Seco Jr. High Dress Code, student costumes must adhere to the following:
- Costumes should not discriminate or demean any group regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or special needs.
- Costumes should be positive and avoid anything that reflects violence or violent acts. Costume selection should be tasteful and in keeping with a positive school climate.
- Costumes should not provide a distraction to the school program. i.e., no revealing costumes such as bathing suits and sleepwear.
- Weapons and facsimile weapons of any type are not allowed.
- Costumes must not impair a student’s vision or movement.
- Face masks or hoods that cover your face are not permitted.
- Costumes that would completely hide a student’s identity, i.e., a gorilla suit, are not permitted.
- Limited face make-up is permitted. Students may not bring costume make-up to school.
- Costumes depicting drugs, alcohol, or tobacco are not allowed.
- Students should see Mr. Miller or Ms. Yagmur prior to Halloween with specific questions or concerns.
