HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 3 - 4 August
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
By now many of you will have heard that our Parish Priest, Father Peter Nguyen will leave us at the end of August. He will be returning to Melbourne. Father Peter has been a gift to our community. His kindness, faith, humility, and his support for our school will always be remembered fondly. We are in your debt Father Peter!
Father Peter will be farewelled at the 10am Parish Mass on Sunday 20th August and it would be great to see a big contingent there. His final school mass will be the Feast of the Assumption on Tuesday 15th August. Again, it would be fabulous if as many of you who can, did join us.
Father Peter Hoang OP will be taking over from him.
Thanks to Assistant Principal Pat Winton who co-ordinated today's festivities to celebrate the Feast of St Dominic, our patron saint. It was a great day and a lovely way to celebrate the instigator of a remarkable religious tradition.
Year One Dominic strut their stuff at next week’s assembly and we look forward to your company.
Best wishes
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

We are very excited to be running a Lap-a-thon this term to help raise funds for the contemporary classrooms. This is a really fun event for all the children to get involved in - and a way for them to actively contribute towards the classrooms they are so keen to have. The idea is to be sponsored for completing as many laps as possible within 30 minutes. Please let Michelle Della Franca know if you can help out on the day: mich75@iinet.net.au

Niki McGuinness - Trigg Chiropractic & Integrated Health
Get to know Niki...
What do you do?
I'm a Chiropractor and I opened up a multi disciplinary clinic at Lynn Street shops, Trigg 18 months ago (not far from Yelo). I now have a great team of 3 chiropractors, physiotherapist, sports soft tissue therapist and the physio and I run clinical pilates classes regularly in the clinic. We also have 3 beauty therapists so all options are covered!
Why did you choose your professions?
I was working as a Registered Nurse and suffered a pretty bad back injury in my 20's. I couldn't carry a litre of milk without pain. I spent months seeing Physios, Occ Health GP's and even did a back rehabilitation program. Two years after the injury, I returned to the UK for 12 months and found an Australian Chiropractor which was life changing for me. I was so inspired that I decided to venture back to uni in my 30's and trained 5 years to be a Chiropractor so I could help others, like he had helped me. It was a tough journey, but I love what I do now.
Have you ever danced in the rain?
I'm English! We do everything in the rain!
What Cheers you up?
All the joys of life cheer me up: time with my girls, husband, family, friends but also just simple things such as the sound of the rain, sand in between my toes, a walk along the riverside oh and I love a good coffee.
What is your favourite knock knock joke?
I don't often remember jokes but Soraya had one for school recently:
Knock Knock. Who's there? Lettuce Who? Lettuce in, it's cold out here!
Does your family have a motto?
We have a few sayings in our house, I think my favourite one is 'you get what you get and don't get upset'. That one comes out a few times as you can imagine. I also like to inspire determination so we are not allowed to say ‘can’t’ but instead we say ‘'If you think you can, then you will'.
If you could take only three items with you to a deserted island, what would they be?
Well I really should say here that I would just take my two kids and my husband but if I was just going for a couple of nights, I think I would love all my family to come too. We would also take boat so we could leave when we wanted and finally, if any of you watched Mythbusters, apparently all you need to survive on a deserted island is duct tape. So this would be my third item.

Library News
The Senior Chess Tournament is well under way, already in round 3, with 55 students participating. Friday 25th August (week 6) is our Book Week Parade, with the theme for 2017 being “Escape to Everywhere”. We are LOVING our new bean bags!! Reading and relaxing in the library is great for our busy brains. 4D is to be commended for their excellent borrowing this term. They are fantastic at remembering their library bags and really making the most of their sessions. Well done 4D!!
