CONFERENCE BOOK FAIR and WALK-A-THON RESULTS!
- The Walk-a-thon last week was a great success! We exceeded our goal with a total raised of $5,514.17! Ms. Martin's First Grade Class had the highest class total and the highest participation earning them a Pizza Party and Extra Recess! Our Top Earner was Dominic Fuentes in Ms. Meyer's 2nd Grade and Julius Leary in Ms. Hoy's Kindergarten completed the most laps (16 which equals 4 miles!). Please join us in congratulating them! The prizes have been ordered and will be distributed to the students at school in the next few weeks. Thank you again to all our volunteers and supporters!
- Stop by the Scholastic Book Fair going in the Gym during Parent-Teacher Conferences. All the details for the Fall Book Fair can be found here - https://www.scholastic.com/bf/brokenarrow. - Teacher Requests for Classroom Needs will be on display at the entrance during Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you can supply a request please take one of the colorful post-its. Thank you in advance for your support!
Opt Out Directory Information
Broken Arrow plans to offer a school-wide directory for use by our parents and students. Many families find a school directory helpful as they plan activities such as play dates, birthday parties, carpools, and events outside of school hours. The directory will include student names, household phone numbers, household addresses, and one parent's email.
If you DO NOT want to be included in the directory, please let Mrs. Walthall know by Monday, Oct 18 by calling 785-832-5600.
USD 497 designates some information as Directory Information, which can be shared. When you enroll or complete Annual Registration, you acknowledge that you have read the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA allows parents and legal guardians to withdraw consent to share directory information. This includes use for school yearbooks, team rosters, school directories, music programs, among other school publications.
Note: The school district is legally obligated not to disclose foster, shelter, or group home student’s directory information.
Anyone wishing to opt-out of disclosing all Directory Information must complete a Nondisclosure of Student Directory Information Form, and office staff will input the form into PowerSchool with the guardian’s answers. Please reach out to Mrs. Walthall by phone or email to ask questions or to complete a form.
For people who want to keep information out of the directory, please clarify if you want to opt-out of "this directory only" or if you want to complete the Nondisclosure of Directory Information Form.
Thanks,
Mrs. Walthall
