Virginia Salt Dough Maps
To help review for the Virginia Studies SOL, we will be making a landform map of Virginia here at school on Monday, May 6. We are going to use salt and flour dough to make the map. We are looking for donations to make the dough. Please see the Sign-Up Genius below.
We ask that all donations are brought in by Tuesday, April 30. Thank you for your support!
SOL Testing Dates
Jamestown Field Trip
- Permission slips and information were sent out for our field trip to Jamestown.
- Please make sure to return permission slips and make payment by Monday, April 15.
- We understand that the cost of the field trip is higher than a local field trip. This trip is more expensive because there is a fee to enter Jamestown and we are traveling on tour buses (not school buses).
- If your family would like to pay in installments, please let us know.
- Information for how to set up an account to pay online is included below, along with the field trip information that was sent home.
Kindergarten Registration
Dear Families,
The 2024-2025 school year is fast approaching. We would like for all families with an upcoming kindergartener to come into school and let us get to know him/her before the year begins. Please sign up for a 15-minute slot for us to work with your student and give them some materials they can use at home before school begins. We have three dates available: April 29th, May 7th and the evening of May 9th. Use the link below to sign up for a time. Please register your student online before coming to school. We look forward to meeting you and your student..
If you know anyone in the neighborhood that has a student coming to kindergarten next year, please share this information with them. Thanks!!!

Device Handbook
As devices go home it is crucial that care and responsibility are used. Please take a moment to look at the Digital Device Handbook.
It is very important that devices are returned to school each day. Not having your device at school will not be an excuse for not participating in class or completing assignments. An alternative paper pencil task will be provided. Montclair does not have "extra" devices to loan students when a device is forgotten. the ipads
*Please keep food and water away from all devices.
*Please carry devices with 2 hands.
*Please do not leave device on the floor.
*Please close up device when not in use.

Other Important Information
Student Agenda Information
In an effort to help students keep track of upcoming events and tests, Montclair has provided students in grades 3-5 with agendas. Student agendas will be coming home each day. Please make sure they are returned to school each day. We are going to show students how to use them as we continue through this school year.
Unit Tests and Retakes
- Fourth grade students are allowed to retake unit tests in Reading and Math.
- Students who receive a D or an F will retake their test after completing review activities.
- If your child earned a C or higher and you would like him or her to retake, please contact your child’s teacher by email or with a note.
- Information regarding retake dates will be provided to parents and students.
- Review activities will be completed at school. We also encourage students to review at home.
Green Folders
- Students should bring their green folder to and from school each day.
- Completed / graded assignments, study guides and other important papers will come home in their green folder throughout the week.
- Please empty the folder and send it back to school the next day
Snacks
- Please remember to only send nut-free snacks to school each day and a water bottle that can be refilled.
- Please avoid sending snacks such as Cheetos, Doritos and Takis. These snacks make it difficult for students to use classroom materials since they leave residue on fingers.
- Thank you very much for the snack donations!!
Birthday Policy
Please see the attached PDF with our new birthday policy! I will send home the paper before your child's birthday. Please return it on their birthday so we know how to celebrate!
