WEEK OF RESPECT
The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.K.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey. School districts observe this week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing/remediating harassment, intimidation and/or bullying.
Our district will observe the Week of Respect from October 3rd - October 7th by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing and remediating harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying, in both an in-person and virtual setting.
Some of the activities this year will include:
- High School - Respect theme during School Spirit week at SBHS, including a VTN announcement about Week of Respect, BRIDGE Center staff and students will hold programming during lunch hours that week and align chalk drawing with messages about respect with senior sunrise
- Middle School - Make Your Mark Presentation for staff and students, which focuses on kindness, empathy, and the "marks" we leave on others. This will be followed by the One Kind Thing activity (encouraging students to try 1 kind thing during the week for others) along with a video being shared about respect
- Elementary - Daily morning announcements and activities created by counselors for teachers for each grade level, focusing on SEL competencies and the CARES values.
