Getting into the stories
Above are some of our teachers of 5K and grade two who did a little costuming to join in the fun of Dr. Suess' birthday. Please note how the character matches the title. Ms. Kenney, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. vonThun, Ms. Heinz, and Mrs. Westrick enjoying the day.
Our celebration of reading was quite a day!
Everyone was having a good time! We had a magician who also brought along a message of reading and learning about how she learned magic tricks. Our special assembly was quite a kick-off to our day. Thanks Mrs. Shannon and Mrs. Crozier for your coordination of the day.
Lots of book characters

Cat in the Hat hors d'voures
The Day was Fun!
Please enjoy the photos of the kids in the cafeteria as they enjoyed cat in the hat skewers and Green Eggs and ham (green coloring came from kale, spinach, parsely, olive oil, a pinch of salt, and a few drops of lemon juice-our chef's recipe). Many kids really liked the eggs.
Mr. Xynos handing out the goods!
Here's a real CAT with green eggs and ham!
'mallows and Strawberries-Cat's Hat!
What does Kindness look like at our school?
Ms. Kohnert has organized a week for all of us to focus on the behaviors associated with being kind. There were morning kindness quotes delivered by some of our fourth graders too. The grocery bags decorated with kindness ideas will be seen by many shoppers and hope can spread the joy.
Kindness makes me smile!
Spreading the words of kindness.
Maybe just a smile can send a kind message.
Good things can happen when you try!
Our school received a $500 grant from the MEEMIC foundation toward the purchase of another tower garden for our school. Teachers have also written grants for the their classroom libraries and speech/language activities.
Literacy Night (afternoon)-good stories, good art, good popcorn
Thanks to our 5K teachers for organizing this event and to all of the staff who donated time to help it be a success! The combination of the activities with the BookFair was a big hit! We hope you had as much fun as we did!
