Social Media, Devices and School
There has been an increase in social media impacting student learning. Generally the school does not get involved in what students do outside of school, unless it causes disruptions in school. We have learned that many students have formed large chat groups in snapchat, text chains and TikTok, where they are roasting and arguing. These things are then carrying over to the school day.
We are asking all families to be aware of what your children are doing on their devices. Please check their social media, and check in on them as well. We try to teach them that once it is posted, it is permanent.
To help curb some of the distractions, we are encouraging families to keep devices at home. We do understand that isn't always possible so if your child is coming to school with a phone or smartwatch, they will need to give their device to their teacher. Your child will receive it back at the end of the day. For students not abiding by this request, the device will be taken to the office and a grown up will need to pick it up.
Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff safe at Adams.
