So Many November Activities Coming Up!
Dear Carman Families -
November is here and we have so many important dates to share with you!
From November 1st through the 5th, our students will be able to check out the Scholastic Book Fair all week! In addition, we are holding a "Family In-Person Book Fair Shopping Time" on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Please click the link below to sign up for the time you wish to be here!
Plus, the online Book Fair will run from November 1st through the 15th -- you can shop there any time! More information about eWallets and the Book Fair can be found at the following link: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/carmantrailselementarysch
There will be a Virtual Bingo for Books with Mrs. Manley on Nov. 5th starting at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom -- Bingo begins at 6:10 p.m.
And let's not forget that Daylight Savings Time ENDS on Saturday night, November 6th -- set your clocks BACK one hour when you go to bed that night!

Colder Temperatures Have Arrived
Just as a reminder: the temperatures have started dropping, and students will continue to have outdoor recess (possibly PE as well) unless the weather is inclement (raining, snowing). Please be sure to send a jacket with your student to school every day; we do have extras in the lost and found that students are welcome to use if they forget their jacket.
Bingo for Books!
Bingo for Books is back and we are going virtual with our Bingo this year!
You should have received a flyer from your student (see the photo on the left) about the event. Please note at the bottom of the flyer is important information needed in order to coordinate the event: your student's name, their teacher's name, and the number of people playing.
RSVP's need to be turned in to Mrs. Manley by Monday, November 1st -- the Zoom link will be available prior to the start of the Bingo game on November 5th at 6:00 p.m.

Our Carman Cougar Spotlight this week goes to 2 of Ms. Moellering's 1st Grade students: Liam Gogel & Bennet Swanger!
The message we received on the Google Form (link below) stated:
"After snack before going to the gaming truck, Liam asked where a trash can was. They helped gather trash from everyone."
We are so proud of our responsible students!

Sustainable Schools Challenge
What is the Sustainable Schools Challenge?
This is an annual Parkway program for all students, staff, and families to participate in sustainability activities while competing for prizes for their school running Sept 1, 2021 - April 29, 2022. It's designed to connect our district mission of preparing students to respond to an ever-changing world with our district sustainability goals incentivizing actions that reduce our environmental impact.
What you can do:
- Share and watch the 21-22 Sustainable Schools Challenge video presentation (6 mins) introducing the program, new updates, and a walkthrough of the website.
- Sign up now! Each student, staff, and family can sign up to earn a point for their school and receive the monthly newsletter with activities.
- Get the word out - schools have had success encouraging participation through their school newsletters and websites
Updates to the program include:
- Monthly prize winners will be selected through a drawing
- 50 points = 1 drawing entry
- New Mini-Grant program to fund projects up to $400
- Virtual Elementary, Middle, and High added as competing schools
