News from Ms. Hess
Mathematicians worked to explore decimals through the thousandths place value. We practiced reading, writing, understanding the value, and comparing these numbers.
In literacy, we read narrative and free verse poetry this week including classics by Shel Silverstein and Langston Hughes. We looked for rhyme, repetition, and theme in our poetry.
Writers worked with a partner to write a collaborative spook story including personification, an idiom, and suspense. Have your child show you his/her finished product on their Google Classroom!
We closed out our Living Systems science unit and have begun exploring geography prior to our exploration into Early American History. We went on a virtual scavenger hunt using Google Earth to locate, take screenshots, describe, and locate where each location's latitude and longitude indicated. Then we spent some time free exploring on Google Earth!
Our Second Step goal is understanding differences and how our point of view can alter how we perceive a situation.
