All grade levels are welcome. Once applications are in students will be notified when meetings will occur.
Are You Interested in Joining Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) Tryouts, Thursday September 29 during IE.
Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. OM brings the classroom to life as students apply what they learn and combine it with their interests and passions to solve our unique open-ended problems. OM also emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and so much more. This international program is designed to help students at all learning levels grow as individual learners, grow as team members, and to reach their full potential.
All students interested in trying out should meet in Mrs. Pinkey's art room Thursday September 29th during IE. The program is rigorous and has a two-day / three-day commitment after school each week. Unfortunately, OM doesn't allow for other after school "School" activities.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Ours Football/Soccer Scoreboard has served us for 25 years! It is time for a new one!
The time has come to replace our 25 year old football/soccer scoreboard. Unfortunately, they are VERY expensive! A basic Scoreboard with installation costs well over $10,000. As a result, we are launching a campaign to raise funds for the purchase of a new up to date unit. We are currently in the process of seeking bids. Once we have a price, I will let you know. As we move forward with this endeavor, I will provide updates in the weekly NBMS SMORE newsletter. We are asking for direct donations. We could use your support and help in spreading the word! Please scan the QR Code or click the link to donate.
Thank you for your support!

Why NO Cell Phones at NBMS
- Just having your phone in your possession can impair your learning
- Cellphones in classrooms contribute to failing grades: study
- Guiding students to develop a clear understanding of their cell phone use
- Mobile phones in the classroom: A helpful or harmful hindrance?
- Reading on a smartphone promotes overactivity in the prefrontal cortex and lowers reading comprehension, study finds
- Research shows having cell phones on your person or near you pulls student attention away from focus, decreasing cognitive function and can increase anxiety
- It distracts others when someone is looking at his/her phone
- Texting is like note passing on steroids
- Phones can be used to cheat
- Students are videoing students and teachers and posting to social media (sleeping student, teacher tangents, etc. on Tik Tok) which is a violation of OCS policy
- Recording in bathrooms/locker rooms has increased and videos are being posted, again a student handbook violation and illegal
- Allowing cell phones in schools is giving students the ability to take their attention elsewhere- they are teenagers, we set the expectations for learning and policies
