In the event the data runs out, students will not be able to connect with their teachers and will not be issued an additional device. CCPS issued devices and hotspots are monitored for appropriate use. If you have any questions, please contact the school.
2020 Inclement Weather Information
Posted on December 16, 2020
Four inclement weather days are built into the 2020-2021 school calendar. If these days are not used, the school year will end earlier than June 17, currently the last day of school. If more than four days are used, the school year will be extended by the number of days used.
In an effort to avoid using inclement weather days this year, CCPS has developed the following plan:
- If a weather event impacts the ability to transport students safely:
- All students will remain at home for an asynchronous distance learning day (as they experience on Wednesdays). Asynchronous lessons will be posted by 10:30 am.
- Staff will report for a 10:00 am start time.
- If a weather event requires the closure of all CCPS buildings:
- All students will remain at home for an asynchronous distance learning day (as they experience on Wednesdays). Asynchronous lessons will be posted by 10:30 am.
- Staff do not report.
Unexpected inclement weather may result in an early dismissal for in-person students and staff. An early dismissal would impact the schedule for both in-person students and distance learners; however, it would generally not have an impact on the school calendar.
Delays openings, early closings, and all-day closings are communicated via:
- a phone call through our notification system School Messenger
- the CCPS website
- Social Media: Facebook (Caroline County Public Schools), Twitter (@CarolineCoPS) and Instagram (carolineschoolsmd)
- local and regional TV and radio stations
A reminder for families: If you are not receiving email or phone calls from your school, please contact the school office to provide or update your contact information. Having the correct information in PowerSchool is critical to receiving calls and emails from the school via School Messenger.

Student Attendance
Tips for Parents - Virtual Learning
How can I support distance learning?
Provide your children with a learning space that is as quiet and free from distractions. If possible, a chair and desk or flat surface to use for writing and schoolwork is best.
Create an agreed upon set of behaviors for class time and school work. Students need to be engaged in the learning process and complete their assignments.
Check to make sure that student work is complete: Teachers are working hard to provide the instruction and reminding students to come to office hours if they have questions. Check assignments in Powerschool and Google Classroom to see if there are any missing assignments or assignments that should be redone for a better grade.
Make sure your child has all the necessary materials including a fully charged device and all learning materials sent home school for the second quarter.
Most importantly, make sure your child logs in with his teacher ON TIME. We have a shortened day and a limited amount of time with students. Every minute counts. If they are late logging in, they are definitely going to miss something important!
Technology Help: You can get help with the classroom teacher during office hours. If the teacher can not help, you can call the school. If neither the school or teacher can help, you can call tech support at 410-479-1464.
