Welcome Back to School!
We'll have an Open House on Wednesday, August 29th from 2:00-3:00pm for students and families to visit classrooms and meet teachers. The first day of school is Thursday, August 30, 2018!
Check out what's been happening in all our classrooms this summer...
4th Grade: Miss Goodspeed is ready to welcome her first class of 4th graders. She is excited to begin the new year with them and has been working hard decorating her classroom and learning about her incoming students.
3rd Grade: Miss Heard is excited to start teaching 3rd grade this year. After spending some time in Maine earlier this summer, she worked with the other district 3rd grade teachers to learn about the curriculum. She has been busy moving into the 3rd grade classroom, learning all about 3rd grade and is ready to welcome all her students back to school!
2nd Grade: Mrs. Aborn spend some time traveling down south to visit family this summer. After that she also spent time working with her colleagues to refine and develop the 2nd grade curriculum. She's been busy getting her room ready with all kinds of flexible seating options for students to try out. She and Miss Livingston can't wait to see everyone!
1st Grade: Our new 1st grade teacher, Ms. McEwen has been extra busy this month! She has been designing the classroom to make it just right and has had a few opportunities to meet colleagues and learn about the 1st grade curriculum. She and Ms. Ward are excited to get started and can't wait to meet everyone on Thursday!
Kindergarten: Mrs. Hodgen has finished decorating her room and is ready to hit the ground running with her new Kindergarteners! It's going to be an exciting year of learning and growing together with Mrs. Hodgen and Mrs. Haynes!
Special Education: Ms. Gendron spent time traveling to visit her friends and family in Massachusetts and Chicago. She's been putting together everything teachers need to support all students in their classrooms and is planning for her learning groups. She and Mrs. Burnett are ready to get started!
Art: Mr. Shultz has been working on his Art space this summer and is excited to begin the year in his newly organized space. There's going to be lots of creativity coming out of that room!
Library: Mrs. Murray was very busy in our library this summer. She cleared out old, outdated, duplicate or damaged books and reorganized the space! It's going to be a great place to learn and she can't wait to share it with everyone.
PE/Health: Our new PE/Health teacher Mrs. Parker has been meeting with the other PE/Health teachers and redesigning our Wellness Curriculum. Our new schedule allows for Health/PE every other week, so our students will be getting even more activity this year! If your child has an extra pair of sneakers to leave at school for Health/PE and recess, we highly recommend that! We never want anyone to miss Health/PE or recess due to inappropriate or unsafe footwear! Just a reminder that flip flops are never ok on the playground! Sandals should have a heel strap!
Music: Our new Music teacher Miss Pineau is excited to start her first year teaching with our students. She comes to us from Plymouth State and brings a fresh, new perspective to Music Education in the ConVal district!
We've got lots of fun learning activities planned for everyone and we can't wait to get started!
