The Winn Word

Thank You Winn Families!
Our first week has come to a close! We all wanted to say thank you for helping your child this week. I appreciate you offering us "grace" as we learn our new "normal" at school. Here are some ideas to reinforce with your child:
- Masks need to cover your nose and your mouth at all times
- If you need a quick drink, that is okay to take off your mask. We have noticed that sometimes the kids are playing with their water bottles to keep their mask off. Encourage your child to ask for a mask break if they need a break. We understand it is difficult to wear a mask all day!
- Social distancing is tricky to understand. If you could help us teach what it means and how to do it that would be great. Understanding 3-6 feet apart is a hard concept. Practice standing that far away so the kids can picture that in their heads.
- We need to plug in the chrome books each night to get them charged. The kids use them throughout the day so if they are not charged it is tricky to do their work.
I have attached our "Winn Expectations" to share with you. These are some helpful tips that the classroom teachers are sharing with the kids. Feel free to go over them with your child.
Food Service Update
Are you wondering how to sign up? Go to https://mealmagic.cloud/mylunchaccount/
This will take you to the website. Now, all you have to do is create an account. This is such a great way for you to be able to take care of all of your child's food purchases in one place!
Have you signed up for Free/Reduced lunch? If you think you may qualify we need you to fill out the paperwork. You can also sign up online at https://lunchapp.com/. Even if you have qualified in the past, you still need to fill out a new form each year. We only need ONE per family. The other important part is that the number of students we have qualifying for free/reduced lunch helps our school. Money is given to our school through the Title I program based on how many students qualify. So, even if you are unsure, please fill it out. Even if you think you may not use it, please fill it out.
If you would like a paper copy of the form, please contact the office. You may contact Tina Schafer if you have questions about the lunch program. tschafer@shepherdschools.net
