Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn
Can you smell it in the air? The crisp winds of autumn, leaves beginning to turn, cinnamon, the desert sands blown in. Autumn is here and all the wonderful changes it brings. Today marks the end of our fourth week of school- the first checkpoint on the journey. Now it's time to fine-tune our established processes and systems to best serve our students, staff, families, and community. Next week we will be practicing our first evacuation drill. These will occur on a monthly basis. Please talk with your student(s) this weekend about the importance of taking these drills seriously so they're prepared in the unlikely event of a real emergency. You might even create an evacuation plan for your own home. At the bottom of the newsletter, you'll find a link to a resource to support with that conversation.
This upcoming month we have a lot of great opportunities to get involved and learn more about the school. On September 30th, our PTA is hosting a Meet & Greet informational gathering in the park from 5-6:30PM. Then, on October 6th, we'll be hosting our first monthly Java with Jeff (virtually) from 5-6PM. This month we'll be discussing how Title I funding positively impacts student learning here at Fletcher and will conclude with an open forum for all sorts of questions.

Helping children transition back to school
Transitioning back to early childhood programs or school- or starting them for the first time-can create extra challenges during a pandemic. Learn what parents and teachers can do to help children make a successful transition to in-person learning and care. Many early care and education programs stayed open during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide needed care.
Masks Work. Really. We'll Show You How
The public health debate on masks is settled, said Joseph G. Allen, director of the Healthy Buildings program at Harvard. When you wear a mask, "you protect yourself, you protect others, you prevent yourself from touching your face," he said. And you signal that wearing a mask is the right thing to do.
