Progressive Era Analysis

Child Labor
These photos shows young boys and teenagers working in a factory. Child Labor was a big problem during the Progressive Era because boys were taken out of schools and forced to work long hours in crowded factory in deadly conditions. in some cases children would be disfigured or in dead because they would get caught in large machines. After reforms children a law was created to where children had to be in school and could only work a certain amount of hours over the summer.
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
These photos deal with the Corporations and Labor aspect of the Progressive Era. This portrays the aftermath of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in which there was failed escape routes. The owners of this factory locked doors and staircases so workers couldn't take unauthorized breaks which resulted in the deaths 146 people. After this incident the governement made a legislation to improve working conditions and worker safety.
Prohibition
This photo shows a protest of men who want alcohol after is was banned by the U.S. government. Alcohol was banned because women thought it made men angry and thwy wanted to stop abuse in the home. After prohibition was over the legal drinking was set to 21 and laws were set to keep alcohol under control
